I really didn't feel like watching the video, but from the thumbnail I knew this was the angle. It's so silly cuz it feels like, if these people were serious/thought it through, they'd have to denounce any new SH2 playthrough or reiteration (the remake) as unfairly giving the monster too much air
And yet, Eyepatch Wolf, in all his confounded ignorance, can not grasp even these loudest of symbols, accusing the film of misogyny, a complete lack of empathy, and of the greatest sin of all: depicting the monstrous James of Silent Hill 2 as a heroic figure, justified in his actions. According to him, Return to Silent Hill is James Sunderland propaganda.

Some people just aren't in the same wavelength as a piece of art. Eyepatch Wolf, for his part, just sees a completely different movie. Apparently, even the least subtle film is not obvious enough for the most literal minded gamer.

Ah but can you argue it isn't the activists being too vague on purpose to sow chaos? Bet you can't beat my cutesy IG art /s
Kosherart: Do we all agree on what he slogan Free Palestine" means? I took screenshots of an illustrated post by Jordyn Tilchen on Instagram explaining how it was designed to be vague & sow chaos by not having a 100% clear definition.

Please read this through this thread & understand the manipulation at work.

Shared picture: THE PROBLEM WITH "FREE PALESTINE"

It's probably the most successful slogan of the last decade.

It's also one of the least specific.

That's not a bug. It's a feature.Henry: this is very true, I would say nearly no two people who say "Free Palestine" mean exactly the same thing

for some it is a very bland statement of "peace now" others its a call for negotiations for a two state answer, others for their particular idea of a two state others still one Palestinian state

Shared picture: THE BOTTOM LINE

The biggest trick "Free Palestine" ever pulled wasn't convincing people to chant it. It was convincing millions of people they're all chanting the same thing.

They're not.

Some are asking for peace. Others are asking for the elimination of the world's only Jewish state. And pretending those are just different versions of the same opinion is exactly why this conversation keeps going nowhere.

And this is why, when folks hijack conversations about AI safety to talk about the rise of the [benevolent|terrible] machine God, we should tell them to go play outside while the grownups are talking. Because the actual conversation is about the harms humans do, not about fictitious nonsense.

imo the primary anxiety behind "boys need positive male role models" is the necessity of ensuring that boys grow up to be men rather than something instinctively felt to be worse, i.e., not a man. you know. like a woman or a queer lol

I deeply regret reading this piece--but also feel compelled to point out that it contains this absolutely spectacular example of Both Sides-ing it. An NYT all-timer "influencers who are accused of human trafficking and rape" are "functionally equivalent" to feminists
"Heteropessimism isn’t just for women. Men like the white nationalist Nick Fuentes and the Tate brothers — influencers who are accused of human trafficking and rape — also promote a form of heteropessimism. Their basic argument is that women are not worth the time or are something to dominate and discard, that there is something wrong with them and men are better off alone. These manosphere figures are far less thoughtful and far more hateful in their wording than feminist heteropessimists, but their argument is functionally equivalent. Both groups argue that the other half is just bad. Give up, they tell us. Both are willing to let the cycle of loneliness and atomization continue."

Extremely normal and fine for a company to put this in a public statement
21. Some cultures have produced vital advances; others remain dysfunctional and regressive. All cultures are now equal. Criticism and value judgments are forbidden. Yet this new dogma glosses over the fact that certain cultures and indeed subcultures . . . have produced wonders. Others have proven middling, and worse, regressive and harmful.

22. We must resist the shallow temptation of a vacant and hollow pluralism. We, in America and more broadly the West, have for the past half century resisted defining national cultures in the name of inclusivity. But inclusion into what?

In part I'd certainly chalk it up to a form of anime-specific media fatigue — I just cannot imagine myself going back to the pacing of the typical shonen adaptation, too busy maximizing the episode count to respect your time. Even as a teen despite its issues I very much welcomed DBZ Kai's abridging
