Ben @dataferrytales.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Just realised I still haven't seen the second series! 220
Ben @dataferrytales.bsky.social · 24/09/2026To be honest I'm not one for glorifying learning being a chore. But yeah, I definitely don't like the whole concept of learning better prompts etc. I think using AI to find answers to pretty niche problems whilst learning is very effective however. 130
Ben @dataferrytales.bsky.social · 23/09/2026I also think that when learning about using AI in analytics, what is overlooked is how to learn for ourselves using AI. How can AI help teach me learn a skill faster than I would have learned it a year, two years ago. 250
Ben @dataferrytales.bsky.social · 23/09/2026If two people have comparable AI skills but one person has better code or process knowledge, they will produce better work. Whatever time we can now save using AI, that time is spent checking output and project managing. 240
Ben @dataferrytales.bsky.social · 23/09/2026The message I think is important is that a good understanding of whatever you're working on is still a requirement. Working with AI tools is a requirement at this point, but knowing the code / process / business is still vitally important for your output. 250

Ben @dataferrytales.bsky.social · 22/09/2026This is a generalisation, however, the data industry is an embarrassment. The willingness we have displayed to relinquish our knowledge, skills, and critical thinking is worrying at best, but closer to truly pathetic. I'm struggling to comprehend how bad it has become in such a short space of time. 4233
Ben @dataferrytales.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Not enough people are talking about the rise of shit cartoons posted on social media. People who overuse AI are seemingly deeply unfunny. 480

Ben @dataferrytales.bsky.social · 04/09/2026I managed to get in a midweek paddle on Wednesday and enjoyed a nice relaxing sunset in the kayak. #Berlin 050
Ben @dataferrytales.bsky.social · 03/09/2026Yeah, I also always said Yo-seh-might. It's one of those things I can't change, I would have to go through intense exposure therapy to pronounce it correctly. 010
Reposted by BenAndy Kirk @visualisingdata.com · 25/08/2026The smoothed-brain bosses at newsrooms continue to make the dumbest calls by killing off some of the best talents they possess. Axios are the latest. Sad for all those in the team affected, hopefully they are snapped up by better employers very soon. 162

Ben @dataferrytales.bsky.social · 05/08/2026The header icons are very often in the way of clickable elements. Very annoying. 4 decimal places, make it dynamic when the aren't required. Include a relative date filter on each page. Use page navigator instead of individual button for each page. 100
Ben @dataferrytales.bsky.social · 05/08/2026Timepoints table needs a column just for time, not date and time, just time. Almost every visual has a shape as a background, text boxes instead of using visual titles etc. Far too many elements. ALL measures need measure descriptions shown on a glossary page. 100
Ben @dataferrytales.bsky.social · 05/08/2026I think this would be better if the formatting was custom based on the value. 120
