I was just at Waimanu lagoon yesterday. Watched a pair of black swans trying to drown a juvenile bird.

I don't think the tracks between Wairoa and Gisborne will ever be reinstated- there's an area between Nuhaka and Mahia which is just about hanging in space due to coastal erosion. It would be so good though.

Found this fuzzy little guy outside the train station this morning. No eucalyptus around so I put him on a flowering shrub for shelter, at least. Sooo fuzzy!

Yep, it's common for tourists to take lambs, either because they think they are lost, or because they are cute and they want them. Not uncommon for them to realise, probably after a night of bleating, that it wasn't a good idea & drop them into another paddock up the road.
