A promise of summer today. I had a go at getting into the water but only managed to just above the knees. Hoping for full immersion before Labour weekend.

On Paekākāriki beach, looking towards Kāpiti island. The tide is heading out, the sun is shining, blue sky, everything sparkly. It looks warmer than it is, I couldn't get into the water further than just above my knees.

Found this fuzzy little guy outside the train station this morning. No eucalyptus around so I put him on a flowering shrub for shelter, at least. Sooo fuzzy!

A fairly bitter Monday morning. Should have brought my gloves.

A railway station platform. Everything is lit up grey concrete, but the yellow safety line pops in the pre dawn gloom. Not seen but keenly felt: the bitter southerly wind. There's snow in its teeth.
