Something I realised recently, to admit my inperception, but the "raku" in Rakugo is not "楽", but "落". Localising the title 'Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu' as 'Descending Stories' was genius. It's got the literal "falling" and the intergenerational plot of manga in there. Thx @ whoever decided this

can we PLEASE bring back the word "poser" and stop using "larp" or "cosplay" - being a "poser" or "faking" being into something is lazy and disingenuous whereas cosplayers and actual larpers are passionate about their hobbies and out a lot of time and effort into them

A bundle of loyal minions. One no-romance woman constantly intrigued by him. Being effortlessly cool in every scene he is in. I seriously wonder how it is for people unfamiliar with GACKT experiencing GACKT for the first time in 'Black Trick'.

My own personal additional bechdel test, if you will, is Is the woman/girl allowed to be effortlessly cool without failing at the job she set out to do? Like yes, she gets a badass moment and is great and overall, but does she actually succeed in doing anything in the finale?

I have done it. I have watched every film or show Kim Sung Kyu has an acting credit for. If this man has the freedom to pick his roles, I would say he likes nuance, high action, low romance, examining loyalty, and playing a little shit sometimes. I'll keep my eye out for more.

A screenshot from 'Taxi Driver' season 3. Kim Sung Kyu's antagonist character, Writer Go, is waiving a suitcase in the air while he trying to escape an island on a motorboat.
He triumphantly yells to the hero off screen:
"As long as I am around, I can [Altered Text] BE IN MORE DRAMAS"

I'm currently listening to a podcast on the Gargoyles animated series and it is heartbreaking to see the contrast of how in the 90's Japanese animators had NYC photobooks as references and an American on the team for accuracy, but now this love of detail would never be returned.

Now with added Alt Text, because this is too important to only be half-accessible.

If I'm talking about non-diagetic bdsm, I'm referring to a story that portrays certain kinks without the direct acknowledgement that the characters are doing bdsm. this would be something like Captive Prince, or Phantom of the Opera again, or the vast majority of bodice ripper type stories where an innocent woman is kidnapped by a pirate king or something and totally doesn't want to be ravished but then it turns out he's so cool and sexy and good at ravishing that she decides she's into it and becomes his pirate consort or whatever it is that happens at the end of those books. the characters don't know they're playing out a cnc or D/s fantasy, and in-universe it's often straight up noncon or dubcon rather than cnc at all. the thing about entirely non-diegetic bdsm is that it's almost always Problematic(tm) in some way if you're not willing to meet the story where it's at, but as long as you're not judging it by the standards of diegetic bdsm, it's just providing the reader the same thing that a partner in a scene would: the illusion of whatever risk or taboo floats your boat, sometimes to extremes that can't be replicated in real life due to safety, practicality, physicis, the law, vampires not being real, etc. it's consensual by default because it's already pretend; the characters are vehicles for the story and not actually people who can be hurt, and the reader chose to pick up the book and is aware that nothing in it is real, so it's all good.

A bit of an odd one, perhaps baby foods? Personally, I still like porridge and sometimes on trips different babyfoods are handy as an on the go meal. My mother packed them on long car drives when she didn't want to give us just snacks all the time.
