Taking Money Out of Our Pockets to Give Handouts to the Rich
Donald Trump promised he would lower costs on Day One. Instead, his first six months in office were spent pushing a budget bill into law that takes money out of working people’s pockets to give handouts to the rich.

The Trump Tax will cost the poorest 10% of households $1,600 a year while raising the income of the richest 10% of Americans by $12,000 a year. 17 million Americans are losing their health care coverage. More than 22 million working families could lose some of their food benefits. This law will affect all of us. The Trump Tax will explode the deficit by $3.3 trillion — leading to higher inflation, higher energy bills, and higher grocery and prescription drug costs. Experts warn that Trump has put us on a collision course with an economic crisis.

If you’re not a billionaire, you’re getting screwed over. Here’s how:

Working Americans will lose $1,600 a year while high-earners will see their incomes boosted by $12,000.

Americans nationwide will see their energy bill increase by hundreds of dollars, and in some states, costs will increase by as much as 30%.

Nearly 2 million construction and 2 million clean energy manufacturing jobs are at risk. Trump and Republicans’ cuts to Medicaid and SNAP endanger another 1.2 million jobs.

17 million Americans could lose health insurance, a whopping 27% of nursing homes could be forced to close their doors, and more than 300 rural hospitals could close.

More than 22 million working families could lose some or all of their food benefits.

American farmers will lose an estimated $23 billion in revenue due to SNAP cuts.

Experts say it is “the most regressive tax and budget law in at least the past 40 years—and possibly ever.”

The SNAP, Medicaid, and energy subsidy cuts alone will reduce the GDP by an estimated $1.1 trillion.

The deficit will skyrocket by $3.3 trillion, stoking inflation and potentially causing an economic crisis.

Farmers are no longer paid to provide crops to USAID, food banks or local schools. Trade partners are buying crops and other exports from Canada, Brazil, Mexico and other countries instead of the US. Crops are rotting in fields due to ICE raids. Children starve overseas Are we "great" again yet?

A US-born citizen was walking near Chicago in January. ICE snatched him off the street, handcuffed him, threw into a van. His wallet, which contained his ID, was confiscated. He was detained for 10 hours before being released without a record of what occurred. immigrantjustice.org/sites/defaul...

"Julio Noriega is 54 years old, was born in Chicago, and is a U.S. citizen.

On January 31, 2025, he was walking near the corner of Cermak Road and Harlem Avenue in Berwyn, Illinois, handing out his resume to local businesses.

As he walked out of a Jiffy Lube, he was approached by ICE officers who grabbed and handcuffed him and put him into a van, without an opportunity to explain his citizenship.

The officers drove Julio and others around for more than an hour before bringing him to an ICE processing center, where he remained, still handcuffed, for several more hours.

All the while, Julio had a wallet containing identification that ICE had confiscated.

The officers never showed Julio a warrant, and they did not ask him any questions to ascertain whether he was a noncitizen or a flight risk.

After about 10 hours, ICE officers reviewed the contents of Julio’s
wallet, realized he was a U.S. citizen, and released him with no money and no paperwork."
