Fun fact about #StarWarsLegacy. Among several inspirations that directed us toward Tython was a bit of storytelling from the Aphra #40 comic. The Martyrium of Frozen Tears on Tython begged the question - what other ancient structures related to the Jedi Order might be there?

Intern Lando = super genius. 1 realized everyone was hanging at the pizza box and thus would be the center of attention 2 the pizza box is warm and toasty So now if you want pizza you must appease and fawn over Lando first. His namesake would be proud #InternLando

Next time I have a chance, somewhere - I want to discuss "the story value of plot armor" and how it creates - instead of limits - opportunities for character development. Which is perhaps best illustrated by this Bail Organa quote from #StarWars #TheMaskofFear.

A timely excerpt from #StarWars #ReignoftheEmpire #EdgeoftheAbyss. This is - in part - a book about parents & children. And what one generation leaves for the next. Ultimate gird-dad Bail Organa and Leia listen to some (Core) pop music. And we meet a new character... inverse.com/entertainmen...

This is a book about broken things, lost temples, forgotten secrets, and healing. About masters & apprentices and desire for connection. About what we gift to others vs what we keep for ourselves. About resolving regret & fear to make space for your future #StarWars #Legacy

Mister Bones in Fortnite. Shout out to the wonderful Chris Trevas who designed the first depiction of Mister Bones in 2016 for a poster for Aftermath: Life-Debt And to author Chuck Wendig for inventing Mister Bones for the Aftermath trilogy. Cool to see a #StarWars book character "travel".

7 years ago we published #StarWars #ResistanceReborn in the lead up to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. A story we've never told is that...during development, we seriously discussed + planned for whether Wedge Antilles should die. (When he was confirmed to be in TROS that changed of course)

Sometimes an idea leftover from development of one #StarWars book impacts another, years later. Most recently that happened with a nifty idea originally conceived for PHASMA (2017) that influenced LOW RED MOON (2026) - 9 years later! (this is why editors never delete notes)

This summer brings #StarWars #Legacy, the story of how Rey/Leia trained post-ep 8 and how the Skywalker saber was reforged. Did you know the original code-name for the book was ARCHLET? And that it's not a code-name, its an "anagram" of a code-name? Why? Well, let me explain...

Fun story from #NYCC. During Matt Stover's first signing we had a massive line. A reader brought with him 14 Stover books to get signed. This reader knew he would take awhile so he asked if he could be LAST in line so as not to delay his fellow readers in meeting Matt. (1/3)

Lots, but I'd say start with leveraging a bunch of informational interviews with folks in roles/companies you're interested in. Use them to learn as much as you can (since publishing remains a frustratingly insular industry). Ask for 10-15 min chats. Have 2 or 3 focused questions.

090

Tom @darthinternous.bsky.social · 13/09/2025

Out of respect and deep affection for all my authors I don't really pick favorites. But I have to say John Jackson Miller and I have been having delirious amounts of fun making #Batman novels. Sort of wild the sorts of story ideas we get to bring to life.

0140

Tom @darthinternous.bsky.social · 13/09/2025

Yes. And it's happened more often as time has gone on. It makes reading for fun a bit harder nowadays. But mostly it's just curiosity about *how* a story decision ended up this way Happens less when I read wildly diff. genres from what I work on.

For our #Batman Revolution novel this Oct, author John Jackson Miller and I worked on integrating puzzles/riddles into the book. Here's just one small tease of that. Want to learn the title of each book part? You have to solve and decipher a word search, first. (yes the book has answer keys)
