Remember, hand drawn animation IS stop-motion. You can do a LOT of interesting things because it's really just photography. Just look at the background of this cave in Popeye from 1936. www.youtube.com/shorts/ZuMdZ...

When people say "Old Anime Feels Real" this is what they're talking about. The light? That's the real world shining through the back of the cel. The colors? Real acrylic paint that physically existed somewhere. Each frame was a photograph, & on some level you trust it implicitly.

We got a new Cramps album in 2026. Sure, it was recorded in '77, but nobody heard it 'til now. I picked up my Glow-In-The-Dark copy yesterday & suspect it won't be leaving the turntable for a while. Probably the most genuinely cool Rock 'n' Roll band of all time. daily.bandcamp.com/features/the...

Someone could take the risk of adapting Nintendo's "Time Twist" into a film or - probably more effectively - streaming series, & likely sell a ton of subscriptions. The story is humorous but also blasphemous & historically problematic, so the press would push the controversy & have everyone watching

For an obsessive collector brain, buying a clean original pressing of an older album, only to take it home and discover that it's missing an insert - which is basically impossible to replace on its own - is a very grating first-world frustration.

Bummed to read that (Space) Ace Frehley died today... Love or hate 'em, KISS transcended being a band and became iconic characters that are larger than life. Needless to say, Ace's unique look and sound were no small contribution to that legacy. ✨

Watching all of the original Universal Monster movies in chronological release order really feels like a shared universe, even before they start crossing over ("Frankenstein Meets The Wolf Man"). They were definitely ahead of their time in that regard. Crazy they lost the formula in our current age.

When I say I watch Anime, I'm generally referring to something like "Dirty Pair", or - probably more accurately - an OVA that barely (if ever) escaped the VHS era, like "Fight!! Iczer-One" or "Hyper Combat Unit Dangaioh". 🤓 Since this is 2025, most folks assume I mean "Chainsaw Man" or "Dandadan". 🤷‍♀️
