Once upon a time, about 9 years ago, I had a modest gaming PC and I fell in love with Stardew Valley. I bought a nicer gaming pc yesterday, and went back to visit. How did I only get this far after 40 hours of gameplay??? 😂 I think something may have happened to my save.

Fun fact about me… I used to write video game and PC hardware reviews for a print magazine with a circulation of around 60,000-80,000 people. Here are a couple examples I took photos of from old copies I found. Read Dead Redemption, The Witness, Firewatch, Transformers, and Dead to Rights! 😅

The thing about Pokopia is that it’s a bigger game than you might expect! I’ve played for somewhere around 25-30 hours so far, and I still feel like there’s so much more I could do. I feel like it’s got its hooks in me enough that I might actually work on beautifying things, which is wild for me. 😅

Game 15 is Pokemon Pokopia. I did not expect to get emotional at the end of the main story, but here we are. This one really surprised me, and I think the key is that the story was so strong that it pulled me through and made me enjoy the mechanics. I loved this game and will keep playing it!

Game 14 is LOVE ETERNAL. I don't even know what to say about this game. It is really hard, but fair if you love precision platforming. Everything about it is unique: the momentum, the art, the story. I loved 99% of it but kind of hated the Final Challenge. Although, I think that's intended. 😅

Love Eternal is difficult to recommend for everyone, but if you love tough-as-nails precision platforming, then this one is very, very special, and you get the added bonus of an original and intriguing story that goes in a direction you would not expect. I'll be thinking about it for a long time.

The Final Challenge kind of pushes things a bit in my opinion, as it was the only stage I REALLY struggled with, but 99% of the platforming challenges feel tough but fair, and I loved figuring out how to use momentum to propel Maya through the stages. Here's one example (failures included):

The story is also really unsettling, disorienting, and wholly unique to this type of game. I was pulled into the world immediately and it really carried me through the challenging platforming sections. It really goes places, especially in the last 30 minutes or so, and shouldn't be spoiled.

First off, I love the art design. The vibes are excellent and lots of beautiful backdrops to die in front of over and over again. 😅

Game 13 is Resident Evil: Requiem. Honestly, one of the best games I’ve ever played. Incredible survival horror meets Metal Gear Solid V style action (positive). This was my first RE game (I know), but now I love Leon and will go back to play at least 2 and 4, if not more. Could easily be GOTY.

Alright, I've decided I'm going to play Resident Evil Requiem as my first RE game. I bought the 3-pack on Switch 2 that comes with 7 and 8. I've heard great things about it on Switch 2 and love the idea of having the option for playing on the TV and handheld. Let's see how this goes!

Game 12 is BZZZT. Another one from the backlog. Very challenging, but quick precision platformer where I finished the main story in about 2.5 hours. Accessible though because of difficulty modifiers for those who want them. A lot of replayability too for platforming freaks who need a challenge! 😅

Between Wild Blue Skies and FUR Squadron Phoenix, it remains insanely wild to me that other game developers are making spiritual successors to Star Fox 64 that look incredible, and yet Nintendo - with a major lack of first-party releases - just lets the franchise sit there.

Wow, Stardew Valley, 10 years... I've played this game on 7 different platforms. It's one of my favorite games of all time and pulled me into a genre I had zero interest in prior. I'd start a new farm right now, but I know I'd get sucked in again and neglect all other games. 😅 Truly one of the best.

Game 11 is Tiny Terry’s Turbo Trip. Played this because @grubb.wtf talked about it last year a lot. It was very cute and a nice change of pace from the harder games I’ve been playing. Writing is hilarious and the gameplay is fun and quirky. Really loved the ending in particular! “Kinda sucks.” 😅

I keep thinking about Seafrog… I’ll be moving onto the next thing here soon, but something about how it jumps right into the gameplay and then mixes all these different ideas together. Even when I was lost for like an hour, I didn’t really care. Also insane that it’s only $15, absolute steal.

This game is so unique. A little Tony Hawk/OlliOlli, a little Rayman Legends. But ultimately, it’s all its own. I hope people play this, because I see a very clear path forward where this style of game gets refined and turns into something even more special.

I would’ve liked a few time-saving features, and the fact that there are no guides made this a wild journey, but I did it. I got stuck a few times, but like any Metroidvania, I just had to go explore a few areas I hadn’t, and boom. Progress.

Ultimately, I understand some people will find the game rough around the edges, but… I think I loved Seafrog. It’s very challenging, particularly near the end, but it’s a fun, quirky world and you get thrown right into the action.

This right here is a relatively easy challenge in Seafrog. I cannot believe I struggled with this for a bit early on and then somehow beat the last level. I’m a platforming OG. 100%ed 2D Marios. 100%ed Rayman Legends. But this game was something else! You’re in for a challenge!

Game 9 is Down In Bermuda. I’ll admit, I wasn’t feeling this game at first due to the wonky controls on Switch, but then… I 100%ed it. A fun, low stakes puzzle game that reminded me a bit of Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker. @yakand.co made a great game, and looking forward to their next one!

Game 8 is Spyro the Dragon. Thanks to @tolkoto.com again for the inspiration. I kind of loved this game. Just a good old fashioned 3D platformer that’s a ton of fun. Enjoyed going through and collecting as many things as I could. I also love how Spyro hates exposition. You and me both brother!

Game 7 is and Roger. Well, probably a mistake to start my morning off this way, but this is an extremely moving experience. Any screenshot would feel like a spoiler, and you need to go in knowing as little as possible. I love how video games are able to be so many different things. Powerful stuff.

Game 6 is Rogue Flight. Got this one on a whim during the eShop sale, and so glad I did. Like Star Fox meets bullet hell meets anime. Really fun bite sized experience with a lot of customization and fun gameplay. Good replayability as well. Really enjoyed it! @truantpixel.com killed it!

Game 5 is Escape from Ever After. Not sure what else I can say about this. I loved every second I had with it. Amazing characters, hilarious dialogue, really fun gameplay. Definitely an early contender for GOTY for me. Such clever writing. I don’t even know anymore. 10/10. Play it!!!

I started playing @escapeeverafter.bsky.social (Escape from Ever After) today. I’m about 4-5 hours in, and I am hooked… I love the world, the story, the dialogue, and Mr. Moon as a character. I can’t wait to keep moving the story forward. This is a must play game!

Game 4 is Alba: A Wildlife Adventure. I’ve been meaning to play this for a long time, and man, what a charmer. I thoroughly enjoyed my time taking photos of wildlife, cleaning up nature, and sticking it to the man. Underrated game with a nice clear message. Small acts make a big difference.

Game 3 is Big Hops. I adored this game. Loved the setting, the mechanics, the story, and the characters. Is it a bit rough around the edges? Sure. But for a first time 3D platformer entry, couldn’t have asked for more. Hope to see many more games from @luckshotgames.com in the future!
