✨ I am very grateful for receiving this award together with my colleague Noemi Festic and for the opportunity to present our work at the @sgkm.bsky.social Annual Conference last week in Chur. I had a wonderful time and appreciated the great discussions and the chance to connect with peers! #SGKM

I was just told that I have to remove “climate” from the title of an ongoing grant if I want to keep it. And publications from that grant cannot include “climate” and other forbidden words. I can’t believe I’m writing this from the United States of America. #AcademicSky

Just realized my essay today also serves as an explanation of the “why isn’t media covering XYZ?” phenomenon: mattdpearce.substack.com/p/fires-and-...

The thing that happened with the death of mass media and the rise of the internet's
slop era feels like the same thing that happened with the shift from defined-benefit pensions to defined-contribution 401(k) retirement plans. In the old days, the news about a big fire was going to get handed to you. It was going to be on the handful of TV channels where you watch sitcoms, or on the front page of the newspaper that you had subscribed to for the sports section. Today, whether you get fire news is something you have to proactively seek and even weed out for.
It's a "you" problem that TikTok will happily serve up joke videos until the moment of your death.

Takeaways: 💫 a lot of influencers feel they can speak about elections but without authenticity; 💫ad disclosures - what are those? 💫where’s the content moderation at since TikTok does not allow for political branded content as shown by @taylorannabell.bsky.social 👇🏼
