This 2021 paper seems to solve the old mystery about the origins of basque culture using genome. In common with Iberia: more Paleolithic ancestry and less mix with Yamnayas. Differentiation came from less mix romans&arabs, feeding back with language isolation pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33770488/
