Thank you to author Daniel A. Olivas, of Chicano Frankenstein, for these lovely words for SOMETHING FOLLOWED US HOME. Available September 29th! @danielolivas.bsky.social
“The deliciously horrifying stories that make up Something Followed Us Home offer a cornucopia of Latiné tales that are as creepy as they are disturbing and original. Kudos to editor, Cynthia Pelayo, who has curated this essential anthology by writers who are at the top of their game as they conjure up a diverse cadre of spirits, demons, monsters, and beasts guaranteed to capture your nightmares. You have been warned.” -- Daniel A. Olivas, author of Chicano Frankenstein

Listening to Bookends and had to look at the photos of the cigar-box purse. Beautiful! Enjoyed your dissection of The Crying of Lot 49. About 10 years ago, I worked references to that crazy-making novella into my short story, "The King of Lighting Fixtures." P.S. More Tijuana Brass, please!

We had some correct guesses for our next (and frequently requested) text: Thomas Pynchon's psychedelic '60s freak-out about an 800-year-old evil postal service cabal, 'The Crying of Lot 49' (1966). Post-horns, highballs, and LSD tabs at the ready, because this doozy lands on 16 September.
Cover of The Crying of Lot 49 that is very psychedelic and shows a woman in 1960s attire (paisley shirt and miniskirt) dancing in front of a long-haired drummer.Cover of Crying of Lot 49 showing a small woman on a bleak brown landscape standing in front of a billboard with an old-fashioned post-horn on it.Cover of Crying of Lot 49. It's unclear what we're looking at, but it appears to maybe be a collage of a bunch of stamps with post-horns on them, with the number 49 superimposed on top.Cover of Crying of Lot 49 showing an old-fashioned post-horn with a mute drawn in chalk on a cracked sidewalk.
