The AI industry is so disgusting. Any belief I had in OpenAI going about this in good faith went away when I read this letter.
Letter from OpenAI to the math researchers they scooped by announcing the proof before them.

I left for a month on a trip and I came back to almost every intersection having No Turn On Red signs, and a new (better) design for them with a red dot!

So we filled up a bus, of course, and now we’re passing all the local stops because the route 9 is just a train shuttle today. SOL if you actually needed the route 9 today. Also I love the coat the person in front of me is wearing, working up the courage to compliment it.

@sound-transit.bsky.social didn’t remove the service alert for shuttle buses this weekend even though the construction was cancelled and there is no more disruption. Some apps like OneBusAway are still showing trains ending at Federal Way.
From 10 p.m. until the end of service on Friday, Jan. 16, and on Sunday, Jan. 18, from the start of service to noon, 1 Line shuttle buses will replace trains between Capitol Hill and SODO stations for planned maintenance.

I love seeing little improvements like this little bulb for reducing the turn radius pop up overnight. Thanks SDOT! This makes the bike lane substantially safer by turning cars to be perpendicular to people on bikes as they turn.

Hong Kong is still worth visiting, it’s an incredible city, but a lot of the culture and uniqueness is vanishing quickly. Every trip there is so bittersweet.

Someone at @sound-transit.bsky.social discovered a way to make an announcement play after the doors close. I’m sure this reminder will save countless people who don’t understand physics and inertia.

It's unacceptable for @sound-transit.bsky.social to tell people to pay their fare with the app when the ORCA readers are down.
Credit/Cash transactions and ORCA transactions cannot be completed by passengers at the Ticket Vending Machines and ORCA readers are not available.

Passengers can purchase tickets digitally by downloading the Transit Go app.

Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.

next three G line buses don’t have scheduled notation. Current time is 9:45, the third one at 10:29pm has realtime info transit app near beginning of the 5 showing the next two buses with realtime data

Go off SDOT
Comment: Do you guys wake up every morning wondering how you can make transportation more difficult? Blocking off roads instead of providing infrastructure is cheap PR and a profoundly unserious way to go about this. You are the Department of TRANSPORTATION, not the department for baby strollers and playgrounds.

SDOT's Reply: We wake up every morning wondering how we can help support people who need to travel, no matter how they do it. One big and important group of people who need to travel is families going to and from school. School Streets are a pleasant and simple way to help support the 30% of Seattle school kids (nearly 3x the national average) who travel to and from school without a car by simply giving them priority for one block of the streets near the school. Local access is preserved. Plenty of parents will still choose to drive, and the rest of our streets will support them too.

That’s been like that for as long as I’ve been in Seattle. The 43 puts its poles up a couple stops after the bridge using these little catchers. In practice it doesn’t work because there are no road markers for the driver to align the bus with.

so is this bus stop at Union and 12th for route two just never going to open? It looks done. Is it really just going to sit unused for a year?

@kingcountymetro.bsky.social is in the middle of the route during rush hour the best place to fix a jam in the fare box of the G Line? We ended up with two buses bunched behind, one of which passed.

No cringe memes allowed here
Meme of person drowning and other person reaching hand out to give a high five instead of saving the person. Tiles say:
- Rent is too high (person drowning)
- "Bruce Harrell" (reaching out hand)
- "One Seattle" (high five)
- (person drowns)

Even In China, where international credit cards are accepted basically no where, even at major chains like McDonalds and Starbucks, the subway now accepts open loop payments.
screenshot of annoucement: Starting July 28, international travelers can use Visa, Mastercard, Amex, and UnionPay to ride the #ChengduMetro. Just tap and go. Multi-language support and bilingual service counters make your trip even easier.

Here are some of my meals. All of these cost under $5 US. The hawker center provides clean dishes, silverware, etc so the vendors can focus on cooking food instead of the logistics of running a restaurant. You can easily get michelin rated food for under $5 here.

Singapore is full of these hawker centers, which are huge food courts full of little stalls for people to sell food from. They are operated by the government to give people a sanitary place to sell their food without worrying about all the logistics of running a business.

Does this woman think bus service ends at 7 pm or something? www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news...
Rosa Arzeta, who has owned the Sunrise Restaurant with her husband and other family members for two years, said all of her customers drive.

“It doesn’t make sense,” she said of the all-day bus lane. “Buses don’t run 24 hours a day.”

Though she disagreed with the decision, she was resigned to it.

“I don’t like it, but what can we do,” she said. “The city does what it wants.”

The weekday service didn't see many changes. Mostly some lost trips on the C Line and a lot of routes with small increases in average trip length, probably due to traffic. Here's a look at all the data for weekdays: analyzer.transit.report/kcm:mar-2025...
summary of trip differences for weekday service (screenshot)

Note the big changes to trips and trip length on the G Line, but only a small change in service hours. This is because King County Metro has merged the inbound and outbound trips, which has fixed the issues with realtime data heading towards Madison Valley. So half as many trips, double the length.

Shoreline Costco is such a better experience to get to compared to SODO if you live near Link. Aurora Village is 100x more pleasant to wait at than the side of the stroad with no sidewalk in SODO. And I like transferring at Shoreline N more than downtown.
