Does it only help you write emails or can it also search / filter / manage based on prompting? In my case I want to archive the junk but keep Very Important stuff without having to comb through 368 pages

Me? I am desperate to get OUT of my Gmail. I have over <redacted> emails on my inbox that I want to clean up and Gemini's best effort when I asked for help was "here are some filters you can use" 🤡

And Google yet again fumbled the bag on a product Gemini should've shipped a year ago at least. If I had a shot every time the Vergecast said "getting access to Gmail" this week, I would be in the hospital. Meta is desperate to get into your Gmail. Managing email is the killer feature.

For all the reservations I have against OpenAI, their public perception around user privacy and building useful AI products is lightyears ahead of Meta. Muse will get a ton of adoption out of sheer volume of Meta's social channels, but Dots will most certainly blow up too.

One thing that grinds my gears with agentic chat UX is how lots of AI tools these days have a decent question/response component that renders on top of a dedicated tool call... However, once I choose / type an option, both question and response are swallowed into a tool call and removed from chat 😑

Some people get into political activism not because they want to change their material circumstances for the better, but because they enjoy righteously condemning everyone who is not as morally pure and radical as they are. You cannot work with these people because they will never be satisfied.

mostly agree with this but I think it's more precise to say "we will review high-level artifacts but the vast majority of what is produced will not be that" newsletter.pragmaticengineer.com/p/the-pulse-... x.com/MarcJBrooker...
Marc Brooker is a Distinguished Engineer at AWS, works on AWS S3, and is known for having high standards in software engineering. He has written this about the future of code reviews (emphasis mine):

“There’s been a ton of talk about the role of humans in code review, and when and how humans should be signing off on changes.

I believe that, long-term, humans have no role in routinely reviewing code.

Short-term, many teams do it for good reasons. Quality. Understanding. Compliance. Those reasons exist, but we should be (and are) working on ways to make them go away.

The “mixed mode” where humans look at some code reviews, assisted by review tools, is also valuable today. But probably even more transient.

The idea that humans will reliably look through code to find the increasingly rare issues that automated tools miss seems like a fantasy.

What does the future [without code reviews] look like?

Review tools, powered by LLMaaJ-style techniques, static analysis, and automated reasoning methods. Principled approaches to testing and validation (PBT, DST, model-guided fuzzing, etc). Correct-by-construction techniques.

The combination of these things will lead to (and in many cases already lead to) better outcomes than traditional code review, both for large and small issues. Soon, much better outcomes than code review.

The days of Code review as a tool for increasing software quality appeared numbered, and the end may already be here (but unevenly distributed).

A weird thing that really happened around the year 2000 was that mainstream news ran and pushed a story for MONTHS that there was a secret new invention that was going to be revolutionary and then it turned out it was the Segway

I was 11 years old, in Brasil, and still couldn't stop hearing about this shit. I vividly remember my childlike imagination deflating when I learned what "It" was and that the revolutionary method of transportation was using an electric battery 😒

plenty of people run llm based agents with powerful models and do not end up hacking anyone. this is not an ai alignment problem, it is an openai being routinely criminally negligent as a company problem

pretty weird and somewhat tone-deaf to say an extremely expensive and token-hungry model democratized access to an open source technology. especially when it's creator is literally saying they're getting less work over AI reproducing his project.

Any chance CSS-Tricks could be listed on Open Collective / GitHub sponsors or any other crowdfunding platform? It is quite literally the most important open source CSS project on the internet. I'm sure lots of people and companies would contribute, and it'd distribute the dependency from DO.

I don't think it's something that needs to be moderated though. It's just that merging conversation groups that are too much further apart leads to friction and possibly conflict, even if there's no ill intent on either side.

Yeah, adoption rate sounds like a great metric here. The fact that payouts reflect paid usage by enterprise customers would also limit bot activity to a certain extent... still, the fraud prevention work on a platform like this would be bonkers.

What comes to mind is the maintainers of Mocha donating some of their funding to more modern projects recently. Sort of the manual and altruistic version of this -- they put not only their finger on the scale, but also their money.

Can you imagine how much money JQuery would make overnight in a model like this? Nothing inherently wrong with that, but for the model to be healthy, the funding should (eventually) reflect active development to a certain extent, not just legacy whale dependencies.
130
Daniel Fosco @danielfos.co · 13/09/2026
Yeah, every option has drawbacks. I do think that putting the finger on the scale would be necessary if a registry was to transition to this model.
