Salami slicing from all sides, innit. They escalated from routine assassinations on British soil to burned warehouses and live fire exercises right outside our waters, we moved from concerned statements to supplying Ukrainians with good cruise missiles

Even more depressingly, we can just get rid of drivers and not have hundreds of reported but unprosecuted rapes and sexual offences every year (from content.tfl.gov.uk/tph-sexual-o... ) Unfortunately because vibes we'd rather talk about imagined harms than the actual, observed harms

Bloody hell I didn't know it's this bad (from content.tfl.gov.uk/tph-sexual-o... ) Maybe hundreds of reported and unprosecuted rapes and sexual offences should give robovehicle haters a pause. Maybe removing drivers is a good thing, actually

Ada Palmer cares and had trans and non-binary beta-readers to make sure she wouldn't inadvertently offend. But in Perhaps the Stars it's still Kiev not Kyiv The set of people, atrocities, and imperialist projects we care about is always socially conditioned even when we try

Striking how clearly Terence Tao's presentation on AI in mathematics mirrors the situation in software engineering teorth.github.io/tao-web/slid... Many influential voices mistake the first two parts for the entirety of software engineering. But "vibe coding" = "unverified solutions"

It was this part and the general look of burned hay that caught my eye. I'm hardly an expert in geospatial imagery, but I'm not sure burned warehouses look exactly like that

Wilson on the left, Green on the right > Odysseus sat patiently and prayed. vs > So while Odysseus prayed there, godlike and much-enduring, > Her brothers gathered round her like immortals. vs > Her brothers, men like immortals, came out, crowded round her, Why do people rate the one on the left?

Since most (all?) of those companies are public, we can just see how much profit they are making. For example, Thames Water profit margin is about 5% www.thameswater.co.uk/media-librar... So if we nationalise and remove profit completely, we save 5% assuming same efficiency. Hardly game changing

Payable to anyone buying our gilts, which includes your pension provider. At the end of WW2 Britain had rationing, didn't have a pension nearly close to what we have now, and spent a fraction of what we're spending on the NHS now. Want to cut back on those?

1. the judge is entirely correct even if understated 2. lol (From www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2016... )
John Hennigan, 50, who had breached the order by using racist language towards a black woman and her two children told Chelmsford crown court judge Patricia Lynch QC that she was “a bit of a cunt”. And Judge Lynch replied: “You are a bit of a cunt yourself.”

4. Benjamin owns a farm. He employs 100 workers plowing his fields. His total payroll is $10 million/year. One day, he buys a mule, which provides the worker who uses it with a modest 10 percent productivity gain. Benjamin fires 99 of his workers and purchases 99 mules, expecting a 1,000 percent productivity gain. The driverless mules cause plow damage to his property in excess of $50 million. Benjamin loses another $5 million due to the loss of productivity from his one remaining employee, who no longer guides a plow but instead spends 100 percent of his time shoveling mule shit. Goldman Sachs builds an altar to Benjamin in their lobby and cuts out the heart of a junior analyst on it every Friday. They call it “Blood Sacrifice Friday.” The name isn’t catchy, but the event becomes a management favorite nonetheless.

I don't think it's fair. The legislative program is coming through (from labourreforms.uk), infrastructure is being financed and pushed through, planning is being reformed, fiscal rules changed (the bit about crediting assets on infra investment especially), etc

Paying more taxes is compassionate and moral and should be celebrated on the left That includes having a higher taxed income
000
Dan Groshev @dangroshev.com · 14/06/2026
The vast majority of taxes are directly proportional to income and consumption (VAT, NIC, duties), see the chart from the IFS. Even a disproportionate indirect contribution to the company taxes slice (11%) won't drastically change the picture.

It is when it's "designed to influence the government" and "for the purpose of advancing a political, religious, racial, or ideological cause" (receipts attached). The "protests" included deliberate and organised serious damage to property and violence, so it's not just any "protests".

> is it because there's no Israeli involvement in those affected It's wild how this kind of dog whistling became entirely normal in some circles. Saying that direct action is qualitatively different from fash organising? Probably a Zionist. An entirely normal thing to suggest now
