have been nice if we could have pulles it off for longer but IMO the writing has been on the wall since Claire Wright lost.

Perhaps, that's not a given. Definitely it closes off some targets but TBH most of these were closed off anyway by the shift leftwards last year in our political framing, a shift which was necessary. There was no future in 'libdems electoral tactics but with radical policy'. I mean it would

We need to de link consumption decisions and action for structural change though. That's the most important way to mobilise the movement.

Mate, that's not how it works. If Labour need Green votes to make the next government, they will do a deal.

The move isn't going to significantly impact current pensioners nearly as much as it will impact me (in my 50s), and it will have a massive impact on any offspring I might have (in their 20s). As ever, UK political discourse is terminally screwed.

I have very mixed feelings about that 'Zionism is Racism' motion and don't really want to wade in with anything that isn't very, very well thought through, so I'm just going to share the fascinating results of the Jewish Greens group's poll of members: jewishgreens.greenparty.org.uk/2026/10/02/s...

Survey Results Briefing - Jewish Greens' views about upcoming motions to conference - Jewish Greens
Survey Results Briefing In February of this year, Jewish Greens officers published a statement urging party members to vote against the motion, Zionism is Racism, at Spring Conference. Following a lar...

There was a pro Israel influence opp that went out on Monday -- lots of auto generated emails preventing to be members/constituents went to Green councillors. I wonder if he got any?

(I’ve been posting this image for most of a decade now - original below - and the only brief blip in it was the Starmer era, because Morgan and his clown friends thought they could continue the roaring right wing revolution rather than at least appearing to try to tidy up. Nope).

If we had another fifty people as good at climate comms and EMOH (and revenue streams to pay them) I'd have much fewer sleepless nights. Great thread, push it out.

The important thing here though, is, it's not up to us, it's up to the Palestinians. Just like it's up to the Kurds.

Corner @dangerouscorner.bsky.social · 2h
Have you looked at a map of the West Bank recently? In order for a state of Palestine to become viable in a two state solution, the Revisionist Zionism movement in Israel is going to have to be comprehensively defeated. Such defeat also opens up the possibility of a one-state solution.

The answer to (3) is 'yes'.

Palestine isn't there as a state, that's the point. Also, Poland had only been there since 1918.

Corner @dangerouscorner.bsky.social · 2h
It's complicated. No one made two states, they were already there. The broader point is: C20th Spain, Finland, Italy, Greece, Rep Ireland all show that it's possible to overcome mass civil war murder and then live together under the same laws. GB is an outlier, we never had to do it since 1660.

[We kind of did. Bits of it.] People actually have an amazing capacity for reconciliation, once the propaganda taps which have been radicalising them are turned off. I spent the 1980s listening to Apartheid's defenders saying millions would die if it ended. This didn't happen.

The GPEW has BDS as policy. It has called out the genocide and called for international law to be enforced against the perpetrators. It defines the IDF as terrorist. That's not 'normalisation'.

As a massive fan of both of you (who sat next to Ed while he voted for, me against) I think that this is actually one of those rare moments where the overall truth lies somewhere in between. We're now a mass party and everything is a lot more complicated.

Check out the current alliance between Poland and Ukraine (again, wanting EU membership, free movement etc) in the context of the genocidal history they had in the 1940s. People can reconcile.

OK but look at what the German state did to France, Belgium, the Netherlands (look up 'hungerwinter') 1940-1945. Mass deportations and murder, occupation, exploitation. Then they all backed the Treaty of Rome, gave all Germans the right to work, trade, invest in their countries.

Finland managed to get over its Civil war. About 300k Spaniards were murdered in the late 1930s and early 1940s by other Spaniards. The Chinese civil wars of 1920-1949 were unimaginably violent. Etc.

2018 also, and the start of 2019. Climate strike, XR... Then it all came crashing down.

I'm in a faction, but when I work locally (95% of most people's GPEW activity) it's mainly alongside people I have some ideological differences with. It would be really hard if we were actively regularly arguing over everything (eg nuclear power, HS2, housing, various wars) on which we disagree.
010
Corner @dangerouscorner.bsky.social · 15h
We're OK with leaving it going if ever we take over; we are very unlikely to ever commission any more. That decision had pretty much been made for us by reduction in renewable/storage costs and inflation in new nuclear costs.

I think that a broader process for motions would make sense -- including the ability for an official opposition to motions to coalesce and work.

Drafting of policy is good and getting better. Check out the policy that last weekend passed: it was excellent. Gone are the dark days of woo.

Problem with this is that splitting it 250 ways is a mountain of work. It's also a recipe for local factionalisation. What about doing it at regional level? I also think we should consider delegate systems, all-member online votes, sortition to make a 'priority order jury', etc.

Note here how “virtue signalling” means “doing anything about these war crimes beyond either saying they’re great, or doing nothing”. And up until about six weeks ago, these were the only acceptable responses in British politics. They still would be, if those Mandelson emails hadn’t surfaced.

But Andrew Hickey Died Ten Years Ago This Very Night @andrewhickey.500songs.com · 06/10/2026
So far this week we have lost three right-wing fraudsters in their eighties with criminal convictions related to their use of hush money to cover up sexual scandals. Almost like the Grim Reaper is hunting for one person in particular.

(this isn't all bad, lads -- last time I felt this shit about GPEW was autumn of 2019. And that was much much worse than this: we'd actively taken an anti-left position, and had only a fraction of the membership and social reach that we had then. But my knees hurt.)
