The extra ump put a little extra gusto on the fair signal on the Montgomery double. You know he was thrilled to have his presence validated.

Norfolk State just missed a game-winning field goal attempt against Robert Morris as time expired that hit the crossbar and bounced back into the field of play. Excellent drama.

You know what rocks? Stepping out of your car at Lowe’s and hearing a robot voice from above say “this security station is recording 24/7 and shares data with local police.” It does *not* feel like stepping into a Paul Verhoeven movie.

I was just as flummoxed as everyone else on the @shutdownfullcast.bsky.social to learn that Army and Temple are kicking off at 4 p.m. ET on Friday—and I just discovered the hilarious reason for that bizarre start time: the stadium needs to prep for an AC/DC concert (via the Times Herald-Record)
The other connection is to Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field: Army is playing a rare Friday afternoon game at "The Linc" because AC/DC has a Tuesday concert at the stadium, and organizers needed the extra Saturday date for set-up. So with apologies to the Australian rockers, the Black Knights and Owls will look to shock "All (Afternoon) Long" during an exclusive ESPN window.

"We're looking forward to the opportunity to play on TV, to be the only game on TV at that point,'' Army head coach Jeff Monken said during his Tuesday press conference. "Playing an afternoon game on a Friday is uncommon, but there's college football fans everywhere, and they like watching college football. I just think it's a great opportunity for our program, certainly for theirs to be on this stage.''

Google search: what is google zero

AI Overview

Google Zero is a term for the shift where Google stops acting as a gateway to outside websites and instead gives direct answers on its own search results page.
Technology journalist Nilay Patel coined the phrase. It describes a growing reality driven by features like AI Overviews, featured snippets, and knowledge panels.

(and then I intentionally cut off the screenshot before the first website cited. I mention it's intentional in a doomed attempt to get ahead of the reply guys)

I don’t know, man. When you’ve got a former FBS head coach (Bob Diaco) and a 10-year NFL veteran (Jamie Collins) on the defensive coaching staff, maybe there are better options for a promotion than the head coach’s *other* son (who’s never had a job in football not working under his dad).

Absent further information from Kraft, I don’t think this headline/story is accurate. Kraft pledged to donate to fund “aid in the region to fight this humanitarian crisis” but didn’t say *where* in the region or who would be receiving the aid, let alone which organization(s) would receive the money.

Two point strategy in overtime is very straightforward: 1. First team must kick 2. Second team must go for 2 Pretty much no justification to do anything except that unless there's unusual tie implications

It is preposterous how much better this game—which is being played on the other side of the world—has been than the much-hyped Super Bowl rematch last night. And it hasn’t even been that great! Just two teams playing reasonably organized and effective football.
