I listened to David Smith's latest Developing Perspective (see https:// david-smith.org/ - 15min long). Thumbs up! He's exploring head-on the feelings of today's experienced app creators in a world that is undergoing great change, and navigating through it. Important stuff. 1/2

A wonderful obituary for Ben Rosen in the WSJ (gift link): www.wsj.com/tech/benjami... Quick summary: "Ben Rosen, an influential Wall Street analyst and venture capitalist who helped popularize personal computers, died on Aug. 23 at the age of 93." May his memory be a blessing.

Watching the Red Sox/Yankees game on #VisionPro tonight is amazing. So much like being there right on the dugout steps. There’s so much going on to see that you miss watching on regular TV. Night and day. Love it!

We mourn the death of John Dvorak. In Jan'09 he wrote a critique of spreadsheets for VisiCalc's 30th anniversary. I responded with a blog post: danbricklin.com/log/2008_11_... "He is a real gentleman in person and is very thoughtful...he also knows his craft, which is to entertain his audience."

R.I.P. John Dvorak, one of the most influential tech journalists and commentators. I'll miss his amiable crankiness.

I just learned sad news that Vern Raburn, a pioneer in the early days of personal computing, died last month. He was instrumental in first getting Microsoft into apps. I worked with him at Slate, an early pen-computer S/W company. He was also a pioneer in aviation. May his memory be a blessing.

Very sorry to hear about the death of Aldus founder Paul Brainerd, the giant who gave us PageMaker and the desktop publishing revolution that followed. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, I used PageMaker to put together my animation fanzine, which led directly to my career in tech journalism. RIP.

It’s the 42nd anniversary of Steve Jobs unveiling the Mac, so here’s my 2014 article on him showing it off at the Boston Computer Society six days later, with video. (It’s better quality than the video of the earlier event, which was so bad John Sculley apologized for it.) time.com/1847/steve-j...

Apple announced today it's adding spatial pen input to #VisionPro. The API supports the Logitech Muse pen (coming later this year). See this developer video of a 3D sculpting app with fine control: developer.apple.com/videos/play/... . It has position, buttons, and haptics (Yay!).

I get goosebumps watching people see the late Bill Atkinson first demo his MacPaint creation 40+ years ago to the public and answer questions. Today, you couldn't imagine it being new. In hindsight, that was an historic moment. Now, sadly, he's gone. Watch it and imagine how it must have felt.

It is so moving to watch a high point of the life of someone who changed the world in a way that enriched the lives of so many. The audience reaction (of techies who know they are watching an historic milestone) lets you feel it. #billatkinson

This is a fascinating book. Teaches you so much about today’s real supply chains from a reporter who went along for the whole ride, from containers to boats to trucks and warehouses to your door.
