Listing says it's C110 copper, which is ~0.999 copper with up to 0.04% dissolved oxygen and a trace of silver. So it's a bit less than 0.999 fine but it'll do

Got some "pure" copper to use in silver refining. Weighed it, 278g. Huh, if it was 4" x 2" x 0.25", it should weigh ~294g. Oh! Look at the metric measurements; they work out to ~274g. Measured it; the actual volume works out to ~277g. It's probably pure-ish.

In an agricultural area here in Northern California, settled in the 1850s, we have a well-maintained pioneer graveyard. It's telling how many children died, in many cases several within a few days, in those "good old" late 1800s. Many cases where several children have tombstones in a single slab.

I asked GitHub Copilot to write C code to support a Skyworks Si570, a well-documented and long-supported clock generator. This is not complicated, I figured would save me an hour. Copilot confidently, even cheerfully, wrote a steaming pile of shite.

I wasn't paying close attention and was surprised to learn of Mountain House and the severe troubles ~2008. I'd dismissed it as a sort of Salton Sea but then it recovered in 2010, no looking back. IIRC the local utilities nearly shut down before 2010.
