In the city for a meeting, perfect excuse to give the new stations a go. Seeing Swanson on the train from Panmure is going to take a while to get used to. Going through Waitematā up to Te Waihorotiu first time. Station looks and functions great, even if I used the wrong exit.

The total footpath length for the Howick Local Board is approximately 548km. Of this, 344 km (63%) has footpaths are on both side, 149.5 km (27%) on one side while the remaining 54.6km (10%) has no footpaths at all.
550km local footpaths
150km one side only
55km no footpath
25km badly broken

With transport reform underway, we're being burdened with more failing and missing assets.
We need to close the gaps and fix the broken connections.

Residents constantly ask why councils aren't doing more to protect trees, because we all recognise the importance of urban ngahere. But Government continues to make it harder to do so. They rejected Auckland Council's last attempt to schedule more trees and it appears RMA reform isn't any better.
