(GenX relevant only) I was walking through LAX and saw a man in outrageously tight black leather pants and boots, just standing and waiting, but with his nose in the air and absurdly correct posture, one knee slightly bent. As I passed, mesmerized, I realized “Michael Flatley, Lord of the Dance”.

This framing.
Start with what a reverse centaur is. In automation theory, a "centaur" is a person who is assisted by a machine.
You're a human head being carried around on a tireless robot body. Driving a car makes you a centaur, and so does using autocomplete.

And obviously, a reverse centaur is machine head on a human body, a person who is serving as a squishy meat appendage for an uncaring machine.

Like an Amazon delivery driver, who sits in a cabin surrounded by Al cameras, that monitor the driver's eyes and take points off if the driver looks in a proscribed direction, and monitors the driver's mouth because singing isn't allowed on the job, and rats the driver out to the boss if they don't make quota. The driver is in that van because the van can't drive itself and can't get a parcel from the curb to your porch. The driver is a peripheral for a van, and the van drives the driver, at superhuman speed, demanding superhuman endurance. But the driver is human, so the van doesn't just use the driver. The van uses the driver up.

Obviously, it's nice to be a centaur, and it's horrible to be a reverse centaur.

There are lots of Al tools that are potentially very centaur-like, but my thesis is that these tools are created and funded for the express purpose of creating reverse-centaurs, which is something none of us want to be.

This is the acme and the omega. The purest form of American stuffing.
lurkey Stuffing:
By HELOISE
*I can of 10-count refrigerator biscuits (baked)
2 to 8 caps crumbled cooked cornbread
1(1-pound) toaf of bread, toasted
1% cups chopped onion
chopped celery
1 eup chopped celery tops
1 tablespoon sage
1 tablespoon poultry seasoning
-2 cups water
I cup chicken bouillon or turkey drippings
Saltiaad pepper to taste
2 eggs
Crumble the biscuits, cornbread and bread
slices into a big pot and set aside.
Put all remaining ingredients, EXCEPT EGGS, into a saucepan. Let boil 10 minutes, or until the celery and onions are tender, then pour over the bread crumbs and toss. If it's not as moist as you like, add more liquid. Let cool Add the eggs, mixing thoroughly. Now, place the dressing in a greased baking dish and bake at
300 Fahrenheit for 30 minutes.
For a more moist dressing, use a smaller pan and pile the dressing thicker. For a drier, crustier dressing, use a larger pan and spread it out to about 2 inches thick (a cookie sheet works

Agencies are permitted to use peer review, as a treat, as long as agency personnel routinely ignore its recommendations?
Executive order text: Nothing in this order shall be construed to discourage or prevent the use of peer review methods to evaluate proposals for discretionary awards or otherwise inform agency decision making, provided that peer review recommendations remain advisory and are not ministerially ratified, routinely deferred to, or otherwise treated as de facto binding by senior appointees or their designees.

I don’t think it’s made it over here from the Other Place yet, but @1goodtern.bsky.social, who has consistently monitored the on-the-ground impacts of COVID in the UK, made some jaw-dropping charts of correlations among infection rates for different bugs, pre- and post-2020.
Pre-COVID correlations between infection rates of ~20 varieties, showing a wide mix of positive, negative, and no correlation. Post-2020 correlations between infection rates of ~20 varieties, showing almost universal positive correlations (ie, rates of most everything now go up and down together), with 3 exception.

I have asked google scholar and not yet found a napping Tyrannosaurus article. However, I did find a relevant academic publication that looks riveting. Any scholarly work that includes the phrase “The modern analogy for this hunting strategy is "cow tipping"” is all right by me.

D Krauss, J Robinson. The article snippet shown says: “We present here a biomechanical analysis of a hunting strategy that Tyrannosaurus rex could have employed effectively. The modern analogy for this hunting strategy is
"cow tipping,"
