*Fifty years ago*, my mum bought me Krazy comic #1 - this very issue. Dog-eared but well-loved, although the free plastic vampire teeth were lost almost straight away.

Ramsey Campbell is one of the modern masters of horror fiction and there are several excellent collections of his eerie short fiction out there, but I will recommend two for October reading - Dark Companions, first published in 1982 and reprinted several times since, and Waking Nightmares (1992).
