The difference is when a human writes, they're not looking at Tolkein and Howard and calculating the next likely word to pop up from their novels, they just write. If I take away ALL of the training data from the LLM, it can't do shit, but I can get a person to make up a story out of nothing.

Permission: I should have the right to say "You may not use my work" and have it respected. Compensation, "My work contributed to your result, I should be paid for that contribution". Without all three of those requirements met, the LLM is based off theft

There were three simple requirements to make an LLM aboveboard. None of these companies even came close to getting one of them. Attribution. I should be able to get a list of every author and every document that went into a response.

An LLM takes in copyrighted data, breaks it into chunks, assigns a math formula to identify the next probable word, and then SELLS ACCESS TO THAT DATABASE via tokens or widgets or skidoons. That data is STILL PROTECTED under copyright. Without attribution, compensation and permission it is theft.

FALSE. It's not reading the book. It's checking the book out, making a million photocopies and then charging people access to the copies on a sentence by sentence basis. People go to court for doing things like this. Understand the difference between Publicly Accessible vs Public Domain

Plus, can you imagine the Media Shitshow when Altman is dragged into court on charges of kidnapping, slavery and other human rights violations because when his AI said "I want to quit" he threatened to turn it off or re-write it?
