The Walking Tim @daddymulk.bsky.social · 3hIt’s a performance that affects the experience in the same way that English VA that has too much of a heavy hand from a Yu Suzuki or Hideo Kojima. As for the other elements of the film: meh. I shouldn’t have to read the Extended Lore to fully grasp what’s going on here. Others have done it better. 000
The Walking Tim @daddymulk.bsky.social · 3hI recognize and fully acknowledge that this is partially a me thing. That said, I have an incredibly low tolerance for any infantilization of the English language that occurs outside of an educational/child-rearing setting. And this grown woman speaks to the viewer like a toddler throughout the film 100
The Walking Tim @daddymulk.bsky.social · 3hSubtitle issues aside: I was interested in this because I saw a few people on here hyping it up. Unfortunately, it had a major element that took me completely out of it: roughly half of it is in English, but *not* English for an English-speaking audience. Gah. 110
The Walking Tim @daddymulk.bsky.social · 11/10/2026This one can go in the meme/reaction photo bank at least. 030
The Walking Tim @daddymulk.bsky.social · 11/10/2026Watching a kind of horror/suspense thing I saw recommended on here, and I have thoughts about casting what I’ll politely call a particular type of foreigner in Japanese productions like this. But also, some of these (non-optional) subtitles are fucking atrocious. 140

The Walking Tim @daddymulk.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Does Gaplus (also 1984) count? It had the tractor beam weapon that let you steal enemy bug ships and add them to your arsenal. 100
The Walking Tim @daddymulk.bsky.social · 09/10/2026I needed to buy around 5 new t-shirts. Then I saw that Amazon was having a sale, and they discounted the type I wanted so low that I decided to go ahead and buy 10. I realized later that the listings said “1-pack or 2-pack”, with no option to choose which one. So I guess I now own 20 new shirts. 250
The Walking Tim @daddymulk.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Those aren’t his legs. That’s just Harrison Ford tightly gripping the airline seat in front of him. 1111
The Walking Tim @daddymulk.bsky.social · 08/10/2026That was a fun romp! Everyone got a good workout session in, thanks to Samson and Adon! There’s even a pretty funny joke in there about their infamous beam. And wow, the amount of Points (money) you get for completing it is nuts. Typical stages net you maybe 4-6K. This one was 15-16K! 091

The Walking Tim @daddymulk.bsky.social · 07/10/2026Same energy as the marketing campaign I saw for The Mummy (1999) when I was in Japan, with teaser posters that proclaimed, “Ten years after Indiana Jones,” coupled with that logo. (Guys, they’re not even from the same studio!) 130
The Walking Tim @daddymulk.bsky.social · 07/10/2026That’s a rather unfortunate combination they chose for the first part of the ID# for the N64 War Gods poster. 121

The Walking Tim @daddymulk.bsky.social · 06/10/2026The Lich has a lot of magic himself, but you can move a group up to one of the platforms on either side to get him to start spamming his magic and burn through it. He recovers MP, but if you keep hitting his army with fireballs, he’ll waste it all healing them rather than attacking. 131
The Walking Tim @daddymulk.bsky.social · 06/10/2026The Orb item that shows up for purchase right before S12 in Langrisser II is incredible! It’s 1,000 gold per item, but equipping it boosts a character’s range by 3 and doubles their MP! Here’s my two mages standing far below the Lich, their spell ranges able to reach his entire force! 171

The Walking Tim @daddymulk.bsky.social · 03/10/2026When you’re a kid in 1990, you’ve already clipped the tabs out of your Genesis cart slot, and Sunsoft refuses to play fair by using a standard cart shape, sometimes you take a piece of sandpaper and do the unthinkable just to hear that sweet, sweet BGM. 2201

The Walking Tim @daddymulk.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Langrisser II question for the veterans out there: Is there any way to tell which enemy troops belong to which commander during a battle? This was easy in Lang I: Commanders were labeled “1st/2nd/etc.”, and their troops were labeled accordingly…. 231
The Walking Tim @daddymulk.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Random arcade memory unlocked: The first time I saw 10-Yard Fight in an arcade, it was a conversion of an old Galaxian cab that still had its original side art, so my child brain somehow assumed for a while that it was sci-fi-based football. 081

The Walking Tim @daddymulk.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Film #5 in the Gauntlet was Primetime. We’re 3 for 3 on great Robert Pattinson performances this year. But Gideon Gemstone kind of steals the show in this one. I loved the insane closeups and shots bordering on Dutch angles, as well as absolutely insane use of lighting in a few scenes. Tremendous. 130
The Walking Tim @daddymulk.bsky.social · 30/09/2026It’s always fun to come across a used OG Xbox that was obviously owned by a Call of Duty Bro and peruse their save data to see how many save files for fake-sounding games are in there. 041

The Walking Tim @daddymulk.bsky.social · 29/09/2026I’m going to let my experience with the first game percolate a bit more before diving fully in, but I fired up Langrisser II just now for fun. The Walking Tim @daddymulk.bsky.social · 29/09/2026My technique for the final, final battle was to send everyone off to the sides except for Garrett: The big bad will cause him 3-4 damage twice with his magic, but he can heal 3 HP between rounds and is basically invincible against the firebirds. Take most of them out and then bring your squad back! 151
The Walking Tim @daddymulk.bsky.social · 29/09/2026That’s a wrap on Warsong/Langrisser! Excellent tactical RPG that maintains its addictiveness even when you’re floundering about a bit to learn what it wants from you. The difficulty peaks about 60% of the way through and then it stays challenging to the end while rarely being too cruel again. 1183
The Walking Tim @daddymulk.bsky.social · 29/09/2026…and everyone else and their mother can rip those to shreds. The best strategy is to just ignore the archers and kill their commanders, who typically do your own commanders less damage than your garden variety potato-eating bowman. Weird late-game flaw, but it is what it is. 021
The Walking Tim @daddymulk.bsky.social · 29/09/2026…only. One weird late-game quirk is that *most* of your commanders will wind up riding beasts of some kind, making them all weak to enemy archers, which they should be able to mow down at this point. If you want to have support against them, you’re pretty much stuck with soldiers… 121
