Recently, I read in a blog of a knowledgeable person that Friedrich Harding is a narrative double of Orlok. This is, of course, true, and the evidence can be found in the film’s earlier scripts. But when I watched Nosferatu myself, it felt to me that Friedrich is a narrative double of Ellen.

We’re in a very strange place with Nosferatu. The director, the actors, the entire crew and those who genuinely understand cinema have been saying loud and clear that Nosferatu is about forbidden desire. And yet, many viewers and even some critics keep insisting on “abuse” interpretations 🤷‍♀️

In the new year, I wish to all of us a lot of good movies and a better understanding of cinema. So that no one would reduce a complex film about Eros and Thanatos to another abuse story 🙃😜 #nosferatu #nosferatu2024 #countorlok

I prefer to think that before reuniting for eternity, Ellen and Orlok wandered the Christmas-lit streets of Wisborg for a while ☺️ And I’m the new year, I hope the haters who missed the point of the film will just leave this ship alone

A lot of people stick with “abuse” and “grooming” interpretations of Nosferatu 2025, but nothing can be further from truth. In the end of the movie Ellen and Orlok merged their souls together forever eternally. And I prefer to think it was a Christmas eternity 😉☺️ #nosferatu #countorlok #ellenhutter

In summer we've been to Pinsk. In local museum there was a stone sarcophagus... And right next to it, in the neighboring display case, there was a mustache brush. That’s when I realized this was a very Nosferatu place!

Few people know, but Soviet cinema had its own Nosferatu: Ivan Kalachov, the head of a motor station from the movie "Zigzag of Fortune". At first Alevtina didn't want to marry that toxic old ghoul. But he went to her workplace, a photo studio, and put things in order there.

It’s Vitebsk, St. Barbara’s Cathedral. Once a travelling blogger said it reminded him the castle of Nosferatu. “I think all the local vampires hang out there” - he wrote.

The gothic heroine plight of knowing your place was never in this world, and your fairy ways have made you prone to melancholy again

Mia Goth as Elizabeth in Guillermo Del Toro’s Frankenstein (2025). She carries a candelabra and is descending a staircase in a white gown

Lily Rose-Depp as Ellen Hutter from Robert Eggers’ 2024 remake of Nosferatu. She wears a green dress and holds a bouquet

"My place was never in this world. I sought and longed for something I could not quite name. But in you, I found it. To be lost and to be found, that is the lifespan of love. And in its brevity, its tragedy... this has been made eternal. Better this way... to fade... with your eyes gazing upon me."
