We have a couch. We each have a spot on said couch. I get up to go do some thing - dishes, pee, answer a call. When I return, my spot is gone. He is using not just his spot, not just the neutral zone, but the whole damn thing. "Do you want your spot back?" Nah I prefer standing thanks 🤣

Started the purging of Mom's "stash" of quilting fabric. All quilt shop purchases, no WalMart or Hobby Lobby stuff for her. Bin #1 - Xmas fabric. 53 pieces totaling 61 yards. Nobody needs SIXTY ONE YARDS of Xmas fabric. And that's just the first bin of fabric. There's three more.🤪

Back in 2001, I was a skydiver. There was a debate online post 9/11 about whether or not a parachute could save a non-jumper leaping from a skyscraper window. Consensus was no. Non-jumpers wouldn't be able to do it. Only experienced skydivers would survive. Skydivers are some gatekeeping mf'ers.

Took care of cremation stuff yesterday. Arrived to a parking lot full of cops. A 21 year old deputy died in a car crash. They'd brought him there. They didn't want to let me in for my appointment to handle my mom's arrangements because the kids family was in there sad. Um. I'm sad too? ACAB.

Got the phone call. I'm a 61 year old orphan. When I left yesterday, she was smiling and happy and looking forward to another milkshake. She's with my Dad and my brother now. They're all smiling and happy. Eventually I will be again too. Where'd my box of Kleenex go?

Moms back at the assisted living. Hospice took over, she's on the good drugs and she's comfortable. She's pretty happy, smiley and agreeable - and not quite all there - on morphine. "Okay!" Or "Yes!" to every question. And sometimes a random "Ok!" or 3 for no reason at all. 😄

My mom is dying and didn't even know it. I got to tell her yesterday. One of the hardest conversations I've ever had to have. And I'm not sure she will remember it this morning. Perhaps a blessing for her. I'll remember it until I can't remember anything. This sucks. Fuck you 2026.

Its close to the end. Palliative care team nurse suggested hospice; in hospital & in skilled nursing if she gets out. She's probably not getting out. I get to have that conversation w/her. A priest is stopping by this afternoon to do what priests do. I'm not okay, but falling apart is for later.

5 pm yesterday. Doctor call. Mom's blockage appears resolved, tube out, probably releasing her today. 4 o'clock this morning - 11 hours later. Nurse call. She vomited while sleeping. Choked. O2 level down to 80. Now in ICU with tube back in and lots of oxygen. 😬

3 am call from the assisted living. Mom has a distended abdomen and is in a lot of pain. Told them to send her to the ER. Was wondering why I couldn't get to sleep tonight. Guess now I know. Gonna be a "fun" day!

My Dad got the COVID vaccine and a couple years later he died. He was 87 and had cancer but that's not important here. He got "the stick". That guy taking the fifth killed him.That's what Faux News said and I have one brain cell so I know. /s (just in case)

Got Mom moved to the Assisted living yesterday. She's safe, watched over and all her needs are met. I slept extremely well last night. Now I get to sort, donate, toss, pack, sell and move the rest of the stuff. Luckily it's nowhere near the amount that I had to deal with last year.

Mom move delayed til end of July (paperwork sux) Got twice daily helpers set up for now. Yesterday I got her med refills and set up the pill box. Got back home and 15 minutes later, I got a call from a paramedic. She fell again. She's ok this time, but this move can't happen fast enough!

Called assisted living place again this morning. Asked about short term stay for mom to get through til I find us a place. Found out there's a program through MediCal that will pay 90% & she qualifies. Can take up to 4 months to start paying but she can afford 4 months! Moving her next week. 😎

Sheriff's department sent out an alert that we were on an evacuation warning for a fire near us. No fire on Watch Duty or evac warning on Perimeter Map tho. Started getting stuff ready to go anyway. 30 minutes later they sent another alert saying 1st one was sent in error. Drill good. Scare bad.

Today I've read that dairy farmers putting solar on barn roofs will lower beef prices and skydivers towing flags can disconnect them a second or two before landing and 3 or 4 people can catch it so it doesn't touch the ground. Time to go touch grass before I implode.
