vs when I've been to Hyundai & Kia dealers everyone I talked to seemed decently knowledgable about EVs & excited to sell them. I asked a sales person why they were so enthused and he said they had been trained that EVs were their opportunity to really leap ahead as a brand. Seems to be working:

Very strange. 50% chance the person that made the decision didn't know what Polestar was or that it was owned by the same company as Volvo. The other 50% chance is they just did it because they could, but Volvo too many people would complain about. Happy US Polestar EV owner here.

Our 800v Hyundai Ioniq 5 is seeing some amazing range numbers, even on road trips! And charge time of about 15 minutes. Love that you did the calculation with a Niro EV. These kind of trips can be done.

On thing that might make your calculation even more favorable: Is that national average of $4.37 for premium using credit card? Most cars that can hit a higher MPG do that calculation with premium gas. Lower octane gasses will reduce the MPG.

It’s almost like stopping production for 2 years, then announcing bringing a lightly facelifted version back out amidst newer better cars from Hyundai at a similar price, and then announcing canceling that refresh before it’s even been released is bad for sales?

Side note. We actually drive a Chinese made electric car. A Polestar 2, also made by Geely. Chinese EVs aren’t always what you think.

And because looks can be deceiving, when I post a picture of this or a Kia EV3 a lot of people assume they are large SUVs. This EV is actually 2 inches shorter than a VW Golf. You can compare them on carsized.com

A lot of folks say they want Chinese electric cars. Interesting that I see a lot of these small Volvo EX30s in Portland. For those that don’t know Volvo is owned by a Chinese company, Geely, & this car is made in China. Had it not been for US tariffs this car would have been a lot more affordable.

As a laid OPB subscriber I’m disappointed in this article. This is the second rather dunderheaded article about EVs from this author @opb.org There are already so many level 2 & 3 chargers all over PDX metro. If there were to be a gov funded fast charger it would go to the coast or out east.
