AUTHORS! ASSEMBLE!

On Tuesday, US District Judge William Alsup confirmed that Anthropic and the authors "believe they have a settlement in principle" and will file a motion for preliminary approval of the settlement by September 5.

The settlement announcement comes after Alsup certified what AI industry advocates criticized as the largest copyright class action of all time. Although the lawsuit was raised by three authors—Andrea Bartz, Kirk Wallace Johnson, and Charles Graeber—Alsup allowed up to 7 million claimants to join based on the large number of books that Anthropic may have illegally downloaded to train its AI models.

If every author in the class filed a claim, industry advocates warned, it would "financially ruin" the entire AI industry.

Itch.io isn't anti-LGBT. They've been continuously supporting my community, which is hugely LGBT creatives, in nearly every event we run through the site, including Trans Joy Jam, which made them exactly 0 dollars and they promoted for us. They suck at managing crisis, but they're not anti-LGBT.

The fact that itchio is looking into alternate payment options and talking about all this like an ongoing situation instead of being like "these are the new rules and always will be, fuck off" says a lot about how much they care about this. I know you want to yell at them but they're working hard

If you want to actually solve the problem, instead of punishing itch, start calling payment cos Collective Shout, which is run by people who get published by Spinifex, a very terf-seeming organization, apparently needed 1,000 people to yell at visa to get this done. We got more than 1000 people.

You guys know how I mentioned i was gonna raise money for the ACLU? Let's just say, I'm not alone, and this has turned into a big event with over a dozen different vtubers involved. Here's the campaign link, with more info as well. Also remember, #NoKings tiltify.com/+vtubers-aga...

What's going on?
ICE is currently in Los Angeles, a Sanctuary City, conducting large-scale immigration sweeps, targeting workplaces and restaurants. The California National Guard and Marines have been mobilized to the city, and tear gas and rubber bullets have been used against protestors. Ice is expected to be in the city for at least 30 days.

What is the ACLU?
The American Civil Liberties Union fights to defend people’s rights and against government abuse. ACLU supports many causes including immigration rights, trans rights, and reproductive freedom. It uses its funds for education, litigation, and lobbying.

What is VTvsICE?
VTvsICE is a group of VTubers fundraising for ACLU in the wake of the raids in LA. We are organized by WrongTypeofHero, featuring a variety of VTubers, PNGTubers, artists, etc. who will all be streaming for the event. The event will last from JULY 16 to AUGUST 1.

How can I help?
If you can’t donate (which is totally OK!), just watching the streams or spreading the word will help a lot! You can also get involved directly— go to protests or support protestors, share information, call your Representatives, and utilize ACLU’s resources. Maybe you can pass out water at protests, make art or graphics to help educate people and raise awareness, or just talk to your friends about it!
