🔵 On average, we invite 21 reviewers per article (less than last year). 🔵 The review process took on average 139 days. 🔵 Our acceptance rate has averaged around 9% over the past five years.

🔵 We got 780 submissions - a 55% increase from 2024. 🔵 Desk reject rate increased to 87%. 🔵 We receive more submissions, but fewer of them are high quality enough to be sent to external reviews → suggesting a new trend not unique in our journal. 🔵 9% pointed to Gen AI misuse.

In summer 2025, we also started to track the number of submissions that are rejected due to problems with hallucinated references, pointing to generative AI misuse. In 2025, this was 9% of submissions. This trend seems to be similar in 2026, where it was (so far) 7% of submissions.
