My two brains
A vintage poster for Guinness beer. The caption reads My Goodness My Guinness. A man wearing a dark green uniform and cap holds a (presumably empty) bottle of Guinness beer and reaches his hand toward an ostrich. The ostrich, which is either incredibly tall or very near the viewer, is smiling and has apparently swallowed the man's pint of Guinness, glass and all. The shape of a pint glass appears at the middle of the ostrich's neck.

Through my company Technology and Society, my wife and I are sponsoring Atletico London for the 2026/27 season. Atleti are an independent women’s football club playing at Tier 5 in the Eastern Region Women’s Football League in England. This is our fifth season with the club, formerly London Seaward.
A closeup shot of the badge for the home shirt of women's football (soccer) club Atlético London for the 2026/27 season. The badge features the letters AL in a circle extending beyond the top edge of the main badge, a dragon representing the London City flag, and the red-and-white vertical strips of Atlético Madrid. A broad, jagged line of red extends down the shirt against a white backdrop. Part of the techsoc.com sponsorship crest appears below the badge.

Jumping on the dialect/accent quiz bandwagon. This result isn't too bad...I grew up in Mt. Crawford, VA, which is in the second-lightest orange band, and did my undergrad at Syracuse. I never had much of a Southern accent but refuse to give up my y'all. I come by that honestly.
A map from mydialect.us showing how my responses to 60 questions characterize my dialect. It's reasonably accurate. I grew up in Mt. Crawford, Virginia, which is in the second-lightest "most like you" band of color. The map shows I'm most likely from Baltimore, about 175 miles away, but I could be from almost anywhere on the MidAtlantic coast of the US.

Just back from two weeks in London and Bath with my wife Ginny, joined by her sister and brother-in-law. Loved meeting up with @garius.bsky.social and his wife @biochemistbecks.bsky.social for dinner and two nights of theatre.

This answer from the Wile E Coyote AMA on Reddit crushed me.
An image of Wile E Coyote holding up a sign to answer a Reddit Ask Me Anything question. The question, from user dinkidoo7693, is "What's your go to karaoke song?" In response, Wile E holds up a sign that says YYZ. YYZ is a song from the Canadian prog rock band Rush. It's an instrumental.

One of the joys of being a twin. That's actually me in the photo. When I visited my dad in the hospital, the security guard did the photo and facial recognition thing at the reception desk. He looked up and said: "You're already here." My brother had arrived two hours earlier. 😀
A Facebook memory photo of a middle-aged guy with dark hair that's gone a bit gray beside a lovely redheaded woman. They are leaning together with a tabletop Christmas tree in the background. The caption reads "Virginia & Doug: Friends for 17 years". The photo is in fact of Curt Frye, Doug's twin brother, and Curt's lovely redheaded wife Ginny.

Startup Hell by @caitlinrozakis.bsky.social tells a great story with a fun and funny romance. More to the point for me, it asks what the infernal realm would do differently, if anything, from our terrestrial companies to demand top performance from their sales reps. www.techsoc.com/p/review-of-...

Timeline synchronicity.
An example of timeline synchronicity on my Bluesky feed. The first post has a user named beetle moses saying: "Looking for some good horror book recommendations for my next read." The post just below it, posted by Asher Wolf and reposted by Amy Rae Hill, says: "Sarah Mansfield MP has made a little book about The Very Hungry Data Centre". The cover of The Very Hungry Data Centre is a parody of the children's book The Very Hungry Caterpillar. At the bottom right corner of the image is a green triangle with "The Greens" in white text, representing Mansfield's party affiliation.

An image of an abstract sculpture depicting a Viking long boat found in the Old Town section of Tallinn, Estonia. The boat's body is represented by a single metal beam that is curved to suggest a serpent or dragon. People on the boat are represented by metal rectangles, some of which are in the shape of a flag and mostly solid with a central cross cut out to suggest the flags of Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Iceland and other Nordic countries and territories. One flag piece near the head of the ship is colored the same shade of red as the Danish flag in tribute to the traditional home of the Vikings.
