New on the CUNY AI Lab blog: Spring 2026 CAIL fellow Jonathan B. Toro on the limits of AI-assisted coding and how our tendency to anthropomorphize LLMs can obscure the human knowledge and communities that make digital infrastructure possible. ailab.gc.cuny.edu/blog/saying-...

New on the CUNY AI Lab blog: we run nearly all of our tools on open-weight models. Here’s why. (Spoiler alert: they are more transparent, cost a fraction of the proprietary flagship models, and have all but closed the capability gap.) ailab.gc.cuny.edu/blog/running...

I wish more institutions would dedicate resources to home-grown critical AI experimentation, rather than ceding control and precious dollars to our tech overloads. @cunyailab.bsky.social is a model of how to do this! #ACH2026

A nice surprise: @cunyailab.bsky.social has launched an #AI Use Disclosure tool based on the #GAIDeT framework. Researchers can now generate publication-ready, structured disclosures of how #genAI was used across different stages of the research workflow: tools.ailab.gc.cuny.edu/ai-disclosure/
AI Use Disclosure. Generate a publication-ready declaration of the tasks you delegated to generative AI, using the GAIDeT taxonomy.

This tool helps CUNY Graduate Center researchers and students disclose how they used generative AI (GAI) tools in their research and writing, in line with the GAIDeT taxonomy (Generative AI Delegation Taxonomy). Fill in the fields below and click “Generate” to create a declaration you can copy into your manuscript or assignment.
