I find navigating this really overwhelming. Your language teacher is not your friend or your therapist but spending hundreds of hours just talking makes it easy to treat them like one.

there is this thing called "ottappa" in Theravada Buddhism, and it is usually translated as "moral dread." It is the terror of hurting other people. It's a part of right view, because hurting other people is hurting yourself. It's literally correct to be scared to cause harm.

I have been assaulted sitting quietly on the bus going to work, fully clothed and completely sober. I had a man follow me off a grey hound bus when I was commuting ti university insisting I come to hos house, I was clothed and sober. I hid in the bathroom for 30 mins hoping he left the station.
