Baseball note: For the manyth year in a row, the best media spending I did in 2024 was Joe Sheehan's newsletter. If you spend time thinking about baseball, you can't do better. Hoping, but not expecting, @sheehannewsletter.bsky.social to spend some time here in 2025, but regardless he's worth the $.

Going to be one of those days in Grand Rapids tomorrow. I live under the dark blue blobs just SW of town. I should've studied the lake effect snow maps more carefully when I moved here 7 years ago.

Re: The Guardian report on Trump not doing FBI background checks. As the kids say, I believe I had this one.

A great article about one of my favorite musicians. Can't wait for my copy (vinyl, of course) of his newly discovered concert with Emmylou Harris. www.nytimes.com/2023/09/28/a...

Enough About Gram Parsons’s Death. It’s Time to Celebrate His Music.

The country-rock pioneer died 50 years ago at age 26 with two influential solo albums to his name, leaving a legion of “what if”s behind.

I have not thought about the Roman Empire since high school. It's unlikely that streak will be broken anytime soon.

Coming to Bluesky from the old place is like moving out of state to a new school. "Hey, none of the kids know me there. I can reinvent myself and be one of the cool kids" A week into it and I'm still sitting in the corner not talking to anybody.

I need to keep in mind that there aren't a ton of people here yet so it doesn't take much to become the Bluesky star of the day. Looking at you Mr. Brooks.
