It was nice to do HDR live streaming just to prove to myself I could do it, though I wish I had better discipline on lighting and set design to make my own scenes worth while for it. At least it helped me learn a lot about using FFmpeg and GStreamer with genlocked sources in the process.

Glad Adobe are still working on this. Their recent switch to ACEScct in Premiere was nice, but the controls & tooling still wasn't there when my editing team at work tested it. It's tough for editorial departments to deal with scene-referred workflows, but will become increasingly common.

Friend asking me about film negative scanning has me questioning where the conversion to a colorimetric human observer takes place in DI? For digital sensors it's a linear transform to satisfy Luther Condition, but film is quite non-linear & the scanner's spectral behavior is an additional layer. 🤔

I debate making another bsky account mainly for higher volume reposting of art & lustful/sexual images. I'd feel bad compartmentalizing, but it would mainly be for density than anything else, considering my increasing anxiety over treating my online profiles as slower and more tasteful portfolios.

Protip: Avoid judging the colors of displays in photos or side by side review videos. Camera sensors are (intentionally) no-where close to a CIE 1931 observer. They do not select for narrow band sources the way your eyes do at all, and are optimized for other purposes (noise, channel separation).

I personally avoid any language around sex that implies it’s somehow “naughty”, bad or demeaning. I yearn for a world of very kind creatures that care for each other and think such pleasures are a very casual, natural and everyday thing. :3 I will never put intimidating wording around my images.

Apple is working with CIE to refine a new color matching function as an alternative to CIE 1931, currently called "Apple CMF 2026". This has been attempted multiple times (like by UCL London in 2000), but only minor scaling changes to mitigate metamerism issues. Wonder what Apple's motivation is. 🤔

I bet fMP4 HLS video distribution will grow a lot for government websites as upcoming regulatory enforcement of WCAG 2.1 in many regions means most video content needs a separate selectable audio descriptions track. Easy to do with CMAF but difficult with traditional MPEG-TS style delivery.
