Context switching is the evil brother of prioritization.

I‘m totally fine with AI supported writing. But looking at the currently published content: It gets longer, and that’s annoying, because I want to still read full articles, but it gets impossible. And no, I don’t think AI summaries a solution.

It’s fascinating how even the big and product centric companies regularly fall into the ‚we build it and they will come‘ trap. Of course people don’t just buy games at Steam, they enter a ecosystem to fulfill underlying needs.

I'm still totally flabbergasted by how bad the whole implementation of AusweisApp (German eID) is. It's technically ultra complicated, and the user experience is a maze mixed with randomness. I still think the only way to fix this is to use this as the standard login for everyone in public service.

I will do another for Product Walk Berlin on Nov 6 🚶‍♂️ Join me and skip the small talk. We'll walk and discuss real product challenges - stakeholder management, AI tools, whatever's top of mind. 1.5 hours. Deeper conversations. Better than standing around with drinks. luma.com/zx3lq620

After a great kick-off this September, we will continue to walk and talk. Especially when it's getting dark and cold, fresh air is important (said my mom).…

It seems like every day there is a new speech2text Mac app. I’m wondering if there will be a winner and what their moat and differentiator will be. Or if this will go directly to OS integration (they already have the last gen tech integrated).

I’m trying to do some heavier research with ChatGPT. Basically getting infos about the Berlin startup scene. And it seems ChatGPT wants to save tokens. It’s again and again providing less things as I asked and also is arguing if I really need this info. Computers 🤷‍♂️

With all these ATS and AI conversions in the job application management systems. Is there a data format standard for CVs that ATS are using under the hood? It feels like people are faxing CVs back and forth and are surprised a lot of stuff is going wrong.

Stuff that seems to be a thing in Germany, but not in the US: WhatsApp and Signal Communities. I'm pretty surprised that it seems German professional networks actually run on WhatsApp.

I just gave ChatGPT a pixelated whiteboard of mine to test if it could still read it. It said yes, and made up all of it's context with content from former conversations. Super interesting how the memory sometimes seems to work as a 'I think you want to hear' function.

The most problematic aspect about that, is that politics / public debate runs on opinion polling. I'm pretty sure that we would have different politics, if we would ask people about actual behaviors instead of asking about opinions.

Business organizations tend to start over time to protect themselves from their customers and their staff. Look at any bank, insurance, telco, or similar. Customers are asked constantly to prove they are not fraudsters, and employees are operating in tight guardrails to ensure they are not stealing.

Many pre-Covid Meetups transformed to online formats and with that to marketing sessions for the organizers. This is not a critique. Everybody is free to join these or not. But it's interesting how the format change from in-person to online also changed from many2many to one2many. Medium is message.

Waiting until AI tools answer with "Use this script instead to avoid burning tokens." I hear from many people who are new to automation or creating code-driven tools that they are getting stuck with LLM solutions, while there is an easy and cheap deterministic way to do it.

Wow, the German Government Electronic ID (BundID) is still asking about pet names (and similar things) as a security question? Wondering how many politicians revealed all this information already in an interview.

I think the most dangerous effect of any leader talking about 'AI will reduce headcount' is that everybody below them will start to protect their kingdom and make up whatever narrative is needed to support their importance. I'm not surprised that we see a rennaissance of silos and 'politics'.

Stupid me thought I could switch mobile providers within one day. But it takes nearly two weeks, the eSIM will be sent via (snail-)mail, and to find out about these things, you have to chat with customer service. German Telekom still feels like it's stuck in "Neuland" (Uncharted territory)

That’s really an anti-pattern that looks like the new default. It also breaks the expectations around email. Same for text messages.

I just used the AusweisApp (German eID) after a long time, and it's incredible how complicated the procedure is and how shaky the technical solution is. I wish the people responsible for the solution would need to use it to log into their accounts every day. The solution would be great within weeks.

Is anybody in the Product world talking about FinOps? It seems the concept is around for a while now, and should be very relevant for Product peeps, especially when we talk about tighter budgets and higher spending (everything AI!). But in my circles I don't read anything about FinOps.

It's crazy that email clients are still a hot topic, and tags/split inboxes and snippets seem to be the new killer features. And at the same time, all of this is enabled by having the medium (protocols, servers, etc.) and the interface (clients) disconnected by design.

Anybody else has the feeling ChatGPT is more and more encouraging follow up prompts like ”Should i create X for you?” Feels a bit like there is now a product person looking to push a “messages per chat” metric. Wondering if they also have a metric to control compute spent per chat.

Why are the interfaces of ChatGPT/Claude/Perplexity/… not self-organizing? It's just a stream of scattered text files and folders. It feels a bit like going back to Windows Explorer. Even the search is not intelligent. So much potential for suggestions, former chats, auto-tagging, clustering, …

I really wonder why ChatGPT is generating a picture for quite some time and then telling me that it is a content violation. Sounds like there could be a lot of money saved when they would check that before putting a lot of compute in the creation.

I started to try Superhuman as a mail client. I was very skeptical about yet another mail app. But it's super interesting: good auto-filters and hyper-responsiveness make a big difference. They didn't invent much. It's basically Gmail. But very well crafted. And now, every other app feels sluggish.

My biggest problem with GPTs is that they always do what I ask for. I want more answers, such as 'This is stupid, you completely think wrong about this.'
