Dismayed by defeat of the assisted dying bill. Nothing was won today – no new palliative care funding, no new disability support. And the suffering that brought this bill to parliament remains.

Schools should be places of learning, not religious recruitment. Yet some churches & religious organisations are using publicly funded schools to evangelise to children — often without parents even knowing. Add your name if you agree evangelism has no place in schools. humanists.uk/action/end-e...

Thank you Privacy International for linking to Medact's briefing. Their cautionary message is heavily significant, being endorsed by the Good Law Project, Just Treatment, Corporate Watch, United Tech and Allied Workers Union, and supported by Amnesty International. This needs to be shouted aloud.

Yes I missed that distinction. Good point. Gen' AI has committed a million irreversible sins against our creative communities. Let's applaud companies like Bandcamp refusing to handle AI "created" music. But little hope of stopping AI's thievery 'til we get empathetic people to lead AI development.

To Wish for AI to be outlawed by any nation is lamentably futile. Better I think to campaign for those obscenely wealthy tech bro's to direct their AI research into fixing our propensity to elect ignorant and artful idiots into positions of political power. (Written without the help of AI.)

Humanism in a nutshell 🥜
Humanism in a nutshell. 1) Putting human beings and other living things at the centre of your moral outlook. 2) Seeing the world as a natural place and looking to science and reason to make sense of it. 3) Promoting and supporting human flourishing across all frontiers and championing human rights for everyone.

We are horrified by the dreadful attack in Manchester today, which has claimed lives and left others in a serious condition. Our deepest thoughts are with the victims, their families, and the wider community — especially on this day of Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.

Violence, prejudice, and hatred directed at people because of their identity is abhorrent. No one should ever face fear or violence for their identity or beliefs. Everyone in our country must be safe to practise their religion or live in accordance with their worldview in peace.
