High cholesterol and increased CAV1 expression promotes stem-like characteristics in glioma spheroids. Reduction of cholesterol hampers hedgehog signaling and provokes expression of epigenetics modifiers causing epigenetic silencing of CAV1 impacting loss of stem-like phenotypes.
