He also took action against Russian interference, didn't specifically mention Brexit but this policy document is worth a read.

Starmer voiced his opinion on Brexit many times, he said this in December 2025, not having a dig at you or Burnham but it's really not fair to suggest Starmer didn't voice his opinions about Brexit.

He wasn't quieter he just has a different style, this is what he said in December 2025 and it wasn't the first time he'd called it out. He took office after 14 years in opposition, he had plenty else to get on with but still spent time repairing our relationship with the EU27.

This isnt a dig at Burnham but I'm sick of people pretending Starmer has done and said nothing about the EU27 and hurrah for Andy. Both Starmer and Reeves have talked about the damage done by Brexit. Starmer has worked his socks off repairing our relationship, it's disrespectful to him and others.

There hasn't been a political omerta, Starmer said this in December 2025 and Reeves said this in a speech in May. Starmer came to power after 14 years in opposition, he had to rebuild and repair our relationship with the EU27, Burnham is continuing what Starmer started,

It is good news but the door was already opened by Reeves and Starmer, I do get annoyed when everything they've done is brushed aside. Obviously under reported by all as nobody seems to have noticed it is a speech Reeves made in May about the damage done by Brexit, here's a snapshot.

And just to annoy you 😉 this is what Rachel Reeves said in May this year about the damage done by Brexit. I've no problem praising Burnham but I do have a problem with people pretending Starmer did bugger all for 2 years. There's a reason Macron awarded him the Legion d'Honneur.

He took the party from the worst defeat in living memory to number 10 in 4 years, this is what he delivered in 2 years in office. If you're so blinded by your dislike of Starmer you're incapable of acknowledging his achievements you're not worth a nano second of my time.

This is what really pees me off, people who insist Starmer did nothing, they brush aside as irrelevant the Employment and Tenents Rights act, free breakfast clubs, extra free childcare hours, changes to apprenticeships, rises in minumum wage and UC and so much more. An at a glance summary.

Oh ffs, can we not leave Starmer in peace and what a cheap shot. I'll judge Burnham on what he delivers not how good his speeches are, just as I did with Starmer. Missed by so many people in the media and beyond is the enormous amount Starmer delivered in under 2 years. A reminder.

Failed to deliver the big work!!!! This is whaf he achieved in under 2 years, it's unprecedented. There's a reason Macron awarded him the Legion d'honneur and Zelensky gave him the Freedon of Kyiv. Burnham will struggle to achieve all this.

We'll have to agree to disagree, I detest opinion polls, I rarely agree with Peter Hitchens but he's spot on here. Lazy journalists use them to set the agenda and politicians allow themselves to be influenced by them. They destabilise our democracy when politicians pay attention to them.

Aways worth reposting this from someone I rarely agree with but do when it comes to opinion polls. They become a self fulfilling prophesy if you allow them to set the agenda. Do you change your mind about anything after a chance encounter with a stranger, because that's what opinon polls are.

Which is not remotely unusual, Blair had a lot of losses in his first term and went onto win 3 more GE's. Labour still have the most councillors. Starmer always said the first 2 years would be tough, I've no time for your argument, the PLP was spooked, they should have bought back.

I'm not sure what you mean about the Starmer operation. This is what Starmer said on 4 August 2024 about the riots. In May this he year he banned a group of people he called far right tourists from entering the UK. Burnham would be wise to follow Starmer's lead.
