#BlueJays fans - has anyone else been having Fifth Element quotes going through their head now that we have a pitcher called Corbin and another called Dallas?

Congrats to Venezuela on their victory! I couldn't watch the game I was too scared I'd end up raging over a bad call again.

Oof I guess if you can celebrate when you win on the back of the worst call of the night then I guess go to it.

I am filled with sorrow for the youth of today - for they will never know the joy of pulling into a metered parking spot and finding the meter already loaded.

This year we have sold 31% of the advent calendars that we sold last year 😓 The art is so pretty and colorful 🥺 The facts are so good 🥺 Eels are so cool 🥺 Get an eel facts advent calendar at EelFacts.net
Sarah holds up an eel facts advent calendar in front of blooming flowers on her sidewalk. It says eel facts an advent calendar. It has 24 boxes with orange and yellow zigzags and yellow circles in the middle with numbers one through 24 in the middle of the boxes there are six eels depicted on this calendar, one green Moray, two splendid garden eels, one blue and yellow ribbon eel, and one American eel and one European.

Tell me your favourite things from the #BlueJays season. I'll start. Watching a team that had such clear joy in playing baseball. Who played as a team and made amazing things happen.

My heart is sore for the boys. #BlueJays, thank you for bringing me back to baseball and for the truly amazing season of watching you be incredible. I will be watching next season - sending hopes and hopes their way for another fantastic season next year.

All my mental energy is going to the Blue Jays playing their game tomorrow - taking it to the Dodgers the way we know they can. #OkayOkay #LetsGoBlueJays #LetsLetsPlayPlayBall

Oh wow - what a game that was. I was happy to see how well Lauer pitched - what a performance from him even if this game didn't go our way. #GoBlueJays

Would have loved for the boys to go to LA up by two. But even will do. Just feel bad for Gausman the boys will need to be on their bats next time he pitches! #GoBlueJays

A person gets so attached to the players on a team you watch play 160+ games in a year. I wish the rosters were bigger so I didn't have to see them move people I really enjoyed and think were important to the team off. But also happy to see those added back. I could never be an MLB manager.

Oh my gosh. I am an October baby and I have to say that the Blue Jays just gave me the best birthday month present I've ever had. Now I just need to wait a little to see if they one up their present. #GoBlueJays

Just like a win is a team effort, so too is a loss a team loss. I'm sad about tonight's result but still believe in my Jays and look forward to their comeback in the last two. #GoBlueJays

Who else wants to admit they might just prefer the Queen of the Night's Act 1 aria, 'O zittre nicht, mein lieber Sohn,' over the more famous Act 2 'Der Hölle Rache' from Mozart's The Magic Flute? Detail from an old piece (Tamino is out of crop), c.2004/5. We won't talk about its manifold issues. 🙈
Detail from a watercolour illustration of a stately woman in an 18th century style gown of various blues with a pair of bats adorning the skirt. A dusky blue veil floats from her headdress, and from her shoulders flows an enormous cape which becomes the night sky itself. She stands atop a rocky outcrop suffused with a bank of clouds and a fluttering of moths.

Hadn't watched baseball in years until last fall when my parents moved in. This season has been wonderful watching the #BlueJays. Was feeling a little worried but today felt like the Jays team I've been cheering for all year. Glad to see them looking themselves again.

I keep hearing a wee kitten crying outside but I can't find it, it stops when I go outside plus the sound dynamics are weird around my house, things often sound like they are in my back yard when they are in my neighbor's yard etc. Best way to find a wee baby stray cat anyone?

Today I give you camouflage cat and cuddle cat. I almost sat on camo cat later that same day.
Black Cat (an orange and black tortoishell cat) is lounging on a chair that is covered by a brown and orangeish blanket. You can't tell it but the pattern on the blanket is a cheetah or leopard - some kind of spotted cat. Black cat is looking upward which helps distinguish her from the background. She certainly has a way of blending in to her surroundings!Orange Cat (a stripey orange cat) is laying on a cushion, almost dangling off the edge of the couch since that is all the space available to her to lay beside my mom (whose hand is on Orange Cat's chest, giving her a little scritch).

Sun is shining in from a window that is outside the frame and it makes the contrast of mom's red robe and orange cat stand out.

Orange cat always wants to squeeze in on that spot by mom if at all possible.

Here is Black Cat with her chonky belly up to the air, 'hugging' the cat toy that she will either continue to just hug for a while before abandoning this lounging post by the stairs or start to viciously assault from this same belly up pose.
Black Cat (a chonky black and orange tortoiseshell cat) is laying with her belly up - revealing an orange patch that she actually really loves to have scritched (it is not just a trap!). Between her front paws she has a cat toy with vaguely mouse like dimensions.

Today I register a victory over the badly manufactured a frame clothes hanger rack that I got for the closet. I beat the bad packaging/instruction combo (I think). I beat the bad threading. Sadly I'm fairly sure it will have the final victory when I hang one too many things on its junky frame.

So, GPS apparently has rendered people unable to read street signs (it is bad for my house so all the delivery drivers get lost). This is why I have no trouble believing those studies that show chatGPT ruins critical thinking skills.

Does anyone on here remember a Sask Roughriders player in the 1990s who broke his neck? A really promising rookie I think but I just can't seem to find anything about it and am wondering if I just have a faulty memory circuit in my old brain.

Original artwork available at auction, ending Friday 6th June, 18:00 BST. 🙏 Edmontosaurus Ink & gouache on Fabriano Medioevalis, 132 × 85 mm. www.facebook.com/share/p/1AQ3...
Drawing in black ink and a spot of red gouache of an Edmontosaurus standing on a sloping, ferny bank, with its head lowered as though about to feed or to drink. The piece is primarily in silhouette, with the negative shapes of the white of the paper showing through in details such as the dinosaur's markings. A few birds flit about near its head. The Edmontosaurus' rounded, chicken-like comb on its head is the only spot painted in red gouache.

Orange Cat (sometimes lovingly called Dingus) who is usually either in motion or sitting in a way that allows her to stick her arse in your face, is here depicted in a rare moment of scritch reception without buttfaceitis happening.
Orange Cat (orange stripey cat with some white on her face) is laying on her side with one paw resting on my arm while my hand is under the side of her head/neck. Her eyes are mostly closed and she looks relaxed.

BUT that one resting paw can and will easily become a paw full o claws if the scritching isn't just right, or is just too good.Orange Cat (orange stripey cat with some white on her face) is laying on her side with one paw resting on my arm while my hand is under the side of her head/neck. In this one her head is back like 'ahhh yeah that's the spot'. There is a sense of tension in the paw that suggests perhaps claws are gripping just ever so slightly.Orange Cat (orange stripey cat with some white on her face) is laying on her side with one paw resting on my arm while my hand is under the side of her head/neck. This one she is looking right at me and her paw is flexed out, a hint of claw just visible but not digging in.

The look on her face suggests that I am perhaps not doing the scritching quite right in this moment.Orange Cat (orange stripey cat with some white on her face) is laying on her side with one paw resting on my arm while my hand is under the side of her head/neck.

In this one she is looking at me again - this time the look is fairly clearly one of demand, that the scritching improve or else. She's now extended her paw ensuring all claws are on display so I know what is coming if her demands for proper scritching are not met with immediacy.

Black Cat (or Chonk-op-o-popolis, or Chongo Bongo) has a thing about her back leg. Dangling off, or touching/resting on something. #Caturday
Black Cat (a black and orange tortoiseshell cat) is sitting in what would be close to a loaf position except she is tipped slightly and her one back leg is stuck out to rest on my arm.

What isn't clear in the picture is that she is downright filthy - sometimes she gets to go out into the enclosed side yard with Mom for a few minutes. While there she proceeds to roll in every spot that is covered with grit, twigs, and bits of leaves. Black Cat (a black and orange tortoiseshell cat) is laying on the back cushion of a loveseat. A window is in the background. In the foreground is one dangling little leg, some pink toebeans are just visible on this mostly orange back foot.

She loves sitting in this spot by the window. When my parents moved in (their cats moved in before they did) the furniture re-arrangement was all done with the primary need of keeping the love seat in front of this window.

Back in the day we had a beta VCR and a collection of movies so all of those got watched a lot of times because eventually you couldn't rent them anymore. So here is one from that list. You will feel great sadness for me if I list more of those movies.

I just saw the luckiest Richardson's Ground Squirrel ever. It dashed and skittered onto the road (3 lanes). It dashed into the lane where everyone was driving. Not one, but two cars passed overtop of it before it dashed over to the final lane of its crossing where it wagged its tail as I passed.

Putting it out to the Group Mind: years ago, I read an Anne Lamott story about a woman visiting a friend with dementia that ended with a powerful visual symbol of a burn site. Does anyone know this story or remember what it's called? I'd love to cite it as an example of a visual symbol.

Does anyone know of a metal or alloy that is particularly hard to work with, that would be very hard to cast something from? But not iron or steel.
