Being a parent of a disabled child, potentially a "high achieving" one, means admitting a moral failing on the part of the parent, not you know, an uncontrollable thing that requires advocacy.

I feel like there is something, even if they deny it, the idea that disability is a moral failing, that has outside causes. As an advocate, you cannot "control" the cause or the "moral failing" but you can get people the help they need at where they're at.
