Interested in many things, but among them sci-fi/fantasy and tabletop RPGs. I appear to only post about politics and the news now because the world is insane, not because I want to. He/him.

1. Each expansion will be increasingly difficult, politically; 2. There is no public confidence in the Court already and it is already just a partisan tool, let’s make it ours instead of theirs; 3. We should be looking at the lower courts; 4. What realistic alternatives are there?

When I was in my 20s (before the affordable care act) I had a stretch where I just had high risk insurance in case I got cancer or got in a car accident or something. I never used it. I broke my finger and didn’t use it. It wasn’t worth it for ordinary things. Never filed a claim. But I had it.

It could only be mind-boggling if you lived in a cave and never, ever, let anyone tell you what was going on in the news.

Roberts is a racist and fascist who shouldn’t be welcome anywhere. Good for these people for letting him know that.

She is a bigot, but also, from a tactical perspective I cannot understand this. This is fighting on their ground. Why not frame the conversation around gas prices or war or inflation? Why spend money to run ads on an issue only people who are never going to vote for you care about?

I saw Supergirl now that it is streaming. It was not a great movie. The villain was forgettable, the plot kind of a mess, the big moments felt forced. The actress did a fine job but didn’t have much to work with.

Republicans obstructed everything when there was a Democratic president and it worked. They didn’t work across the aisle and they won every branch of government after that. Voters rewarded them. Thinking we need to compromise is the same loser thinking that got us here.

It is amazing to me how bad establishment Democrats are at predicting the future. They are celebrating this birthright citizenship ruling without any thought on how close it was or how at least one justice laid out how to overturn it next time. Can they not see where this going?

What is a good way to find new D&D players for an ongoing campaign? We’ve had a couple people drop out (for non-game related reasons) and need to recruit if we are going to continue. Online, every other week.

The majority of the Supreme Court is racist. We should say that plainly so people understand it, not hiding behind language that makes it sound like they have some other reasoning. They are racist.

Rest easy Marcia Lucas, I think about the triple climaxes of Return of the Jedi, three different planes of action, and how they never become muddled, with the emotional stakes perfectly legible and building off each other.

The most important reason why Democrats should refuse to capitulate to these illegal and illegitimate acts like what just took place in Virginia is because capitulation only reinforces the belief that politics is futile, which in turn increases the probability that people will turn to violence.

The single most defining thing Elon Musk has ever done is killing untold numbers of people by having DOGE illegally raid and disband USAID. Not rickets, not cars, not even the CSAMbot on X. It’s this, and so many media pundits just choose to unsee it.

A WHOLE CIVILIZATION
WILL DIE TONIGHT
My son needs lunch, and I have to put his backpack together, but a whole civilization will die tonight, so I'm wondering if they've closed their schools.
Like, a snow day, maybe, except instead of snow it's
"keep your children home so if you die, you die together" — instead of "well open back up once the plows have cleared" it's
"we don't know if we'll be here tomorrow, hold your babies tight."
It's just "talk" I'm told, which I've been told before.
"It's how the president makes his deals." But I've never heard anyone talk about other human beings this way, and I'm not certain I can look my son in the eyes if we all agree to stomach it one more time.
A civilization will die tonight, but as I zip up his backpack and kiss him off to school I think: if this is what we call leadership then I'm not entirely sure ours isn't already dead.

I have no actual knowledge of any of this. But I suspect Bezos didn’t buy the Post to ruin it. He thought it would be a nice little prize for him. Make him look good. But later ruining it made him popular with the other billionaires. That was more important to him.

Obviously when I was growing up I was a nerdy kid and this show was a big part of my life. I’d watch it with friends, we’d talk about what happened at school the next day. I can still remember when we all got together to watch the series finale. Putting this together brought back a lot of memories.

I’m amazed because it is consistently worse in every way. There is no advantage to it whatsoever. Usually there’s at least something better. How they not know that? Did they not test it? Did they not ask any normal people at all about it before rolling it out? It’s baffling.

The point of a slogan is not to make a subtle reasoned argument. It’s a quick catch phrase that motivates people. It has to make sense at a glance. I don’t agree with the thought behind it, but regardless no one even knows what this is supposed to mean without a tedious explanation. It’s bad.

We can’t trust Senate Democrats. This stinks of a behind the scenes deal. If a Senator wants us to ever trust them again, they need to immediately call for Schumer’s ouster. Otherwise they were part of it and they need to go. That includes every one even if they voted no.

Christopher Lamb @crlamb.bsky.social · 10/11/2025
Senate Democrats think they are smarter than us. They think we’ll blame this on the 8 who voted for it, who are either retiring or who aren’t up for reelection for years. But there’s no way this happened without the rest being in on it. Get rid of Schumer and all the rest. We can’t trust them.

How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

Durbin is elected Democratic Whip - and is supposed to be one pushing others to vote the party line. That he defied the caucus to vote yes means he should resign his leadership position or be voted out. Again if Dems let him stay in leadership, this is on the caucus not just on the traitors.

Schumer is either complicit or an ineffectual leader on the most important vote as Senate Party leader. Either way, he should be voted out TOMORROW by the rest of the caucus. And the rest of the caucus is complicit if they keep Schumer in power.

The people who bore that symbol murdered Jews in their homes. They deliberately sought out black members of the French army and targeted them for killing. That’s just the beginning. The list of their crimes is long and horrifying. It is not a “sick tat.” It is a symbol of hate.
