The thing is, the men in our lives don’t care. Not really. I find that genuinely shocking. how can you live closely with someone, know about this epidemic of SA they have to deal with, and just be utterly blithe about it. It’s fucking bizarre, like pretending a war isn’t happening

I picked my undergrad institution specifically bc it had no frats and organized sports. There was still sexual violence but exactly as this excellent thread points out - it wasn’t systemic, it didn’t exist as a kind of shadow admin

I’m not a man but was recently in the “good guy” position vis a vis mask wearing and a dude who was big mad about it. We live in a rural area so I had waved at him as I passed him in the supermarket. Saying “I was so nice to you why you gotta be so mean?” utterly confounded him

It was so bad. There’s still a big conversation to be had about how women—and mothers, in particular—paved the way for the dismantling of women’s rights in education. The entire fight against Title IX has been conducted by mothers, inspired by misogyny and/or transphobia.
