Thank you! It also means that the AI input isn't obtrusive and that external changes can't affect your language choices. Accessibility should be free!

Google Meet is missing a key accessibility feature: Text to Speech. Well not anymore with my new Chrome Extension called Zip Speech. It simply turns text to speech in Meet, and says it aloud to the meeting and the user. chromewebstore.google.com/detail/zip-s... #Accessibiliy #TextToSpeech

To all the teachers lighting up minds and making learning accessible for every student: We see you, and we appreciate you. Happy #WorldTeachersDay! ❤️
A warm and friendly classroom scene. A female teacher with dark, curly hair is smiling as she leans over a student's desk to offer guidance. Several other students are seated and writing in the brightly lit room. A large blue text overlay says, "On World Teacher's Day we want to say we appreciate you!" The Zip logo is in the bottom right corner.

Make sure that you have set your dialect to ensure that you are getting the most accurate results for your voice. If you have moved between counties, or you have an accent which is a mix of cultures, you might need to try a few different ones to get the most accurate results that you can!

In my opinion you should run, not walk away from teaching in the UK. Having worked in two education systems, teachers in the UK are underpaid, overworked, taken advantage of, and the curriculum is a hot mess. Then the BBC have the audacity to suggest this: www.bbc.com/news/article... #teaching #uk

Hi! a UK-born high school teacher with experience teaching from kindergarten to grade 13 in both the UK and Canada. My computer science background fuels my passion for integrating technology into the classroom and finding creative solutions to problems. As a Google for Education Certified Innovator and Trainer, I'm a regular at EdTech conferences. I've even presented to the Ministry of Education on creating more inclusive schools for students with hearing loss, and my work has been featured in blogs, magazines, websites, and even a Google for Education blog post about Global Accessibility Day.a full-stack software developer with ten years of cloud development experience. My background as a teacher fuels my passion for using technology to empower learners. I believe in free and open tech, and that community building is the internet's real strength. In my free time, I tinker with smart home electronics, often involving 3D printing and lots of LEDs. I also love the outdoors, whether I'm walking my dog in the Quebec countryside, canoeing, or tackling a home improvement projectWe're the team behind Zip Captions!

How do we ensure that these historical biases which are written in texts, papers, and all over the Internet, don't make it into our future? Well that's the big question, as AI models are trained, will they develop their own biases? 2/3

It's Black History Month as I'm sure everyone is aware, and hopefully you've had the opportunity to reflect on the past injustices, racism and biases towards Black people throughout recent history. But now, as we move forward, how do we prevent that? 1/3

Who owns the model? What risks are they looking for? What are they going to do once they've done this? How are they eliminating bias? I'm interested to follow this one. Thanks for confirming my concerns

I think this is a really interesting debate, because some tools will hugely impact certain people whereas they will counter what another group are trying to do. As we move forward with AI I think that the tools that will succeed are those that amplify the teachers reach and voice. Thoughts?

Our situation in Canada is generally better than in the US. We won a lot of gains here in our last round of negotiations. We also have 20 professional days a year with 4 of those protected for our own time and planning.

Yes, I understand that, but then should we be provided with tests, quizzes, study guides and lesson plans? We get a lot of time in our day for planning and preparation, what are we being paid for if we are not creating resources?
