I've lost the Marine transfer sheets I had and there's no way I'm freehanding it. Apart from that, one Blood Angel Infernus Marine done. #warhammer40k #paintingwarhammer

Tried a thing. Namely I tried to get some scorch marks on this flamer. A coat of Leadbelcher, then three quarters over with Seraphim Sepia, then half with Leviathan Purple and finally quarter with Leviadon Blue. I could have blended better but the idea is there.

Good example of progress here with two Imagifier models. The one on the left is from around 2023 whilst the one on the right was finished yesterday. I'm glad to have got past my 'Agrax Earthshade will age everything' phase.

I've also decided to carry on with the Marine I was using the Tone Pro paints on.

Tried some of the new Tone Pro Warhammer paints in my local store yesterday. Initially I wasn't sure what the hype was about but then I realised I was still thinning them down like the old ones. Colours are vibrant and having the tones ready made is much easier. #warhammer40k

Tried a little bit of slapchop. I don't think it works on yellow armour. #warhammer40k #paintingminiatures

Rough time of it lately. Couldn't concentrate on much. I'm very pleased I managed to sit down and work on one model.

Doing some green skin experiments on this Ork model. Looking quite good currently. #warhammer40k

A model of an Ork from table top wargame 'Warhammer 40k'. It's not finished but the green skin has a range of shades.

It was a pleasure to guest on A Kettle and Some String to talk about 'The Lodger'. Bonus game of what Doctor would make the best flatmate.

I should probably post to Blue Sky more.

Today on Too Hoy For TV I am joined by @cripleh.bsky.social to look at the expanded universe of WWE/F. We look at the first WWF home video 'Bloopers, Bleeps And Bodyslams', an episode of 'Hulk Hogan's Rock 'n' Wrestling' and 2 issues of the Ultimate Warriors comic 'Warrior'. linktr.ee/Dylan_Rees

Beyond A Steel Sky is pretty good. The fact I bought the steel book edition from CEX and it still has the stickers intact suggests the previous owner really didn't care for it.

Which leaves the question, what story is going to go on trial in the third and final episode, for a potential title decider? Well, that’s up to you - go to tinyurl.com/pbl9vote and choose the episode you want to see on trial on May 28th, with guests @docoho44.bsky.social and @toohot4tv.bsky.social!

I want my 2026 to be the year of the real. In essence, fuck AI and all who ride in on it. Give me physical media, give me the joy of shared human experiences.

Moving forward into 2026 and I'm going to try and continue a march away from the algorithm. I deleted Twitter years ago, Threads is in the bin and I'm half considering chucking Facebook as well. What started years ago and a wonderful way of communicating now seems blighted by distraction.

Pro wrestling. I didn't watch much new wrestling in 2025 despite WWE being on Netflix now. It's mostly been older stuff from the 90's and a whole lot of Japanese matches. I'm certainly enjoying putting match recommendations up on WhatsApp for a small group of fellow grap fans.

Which brings me to Whoverville back in August. I'm consistently in awe of the fact that this TV show about a blue box has put me in contact with some of the wittiest, friendliest and charming people I know. If I met you in Derby then I thank you for being a friendly soul.

I often get moments when I get the thought that I'm not 'qualified' to do The Polis Box. I don't have a huge knowledge of the inner workings of the show, I just enjoy it as a mad time travel adventure. Such intrusive thinking soon disappears once we get into full flow however and I love it so.

Doing @thepolisbox.bsky.social has always been and remains to be one of the best things I'm involved with. Those fortnightly broadcasts with Lee and Dave as we merrily rip into Doctor Who always brings a smile to my face. If you've got in touch with the show or been on as a guest then I thank you.

The rewrite process of making it look like I meant it all along is underway. Writing has always been the 'thing I do on the side' yet the aim has always been to make it 'the thing I do'. I'll get there eventually.

Firstly I finished my mentorship with Wigton Book Festival back in January. I'd tag my mentor Julie Bertagna here but she doesn't seem to be on BlueSky. Thanks to her guidance and input the first rough draft of 'Heavy Is The Earth' got over the line. I surprised myself that I was able to do it...
