I mean, here’s Barbara Castle being eurosceptic in 1975, using the same concepts as we got in 2016

Monetise the thing you have to generate income in the short term and then rely on someone else’s free thing for your actual policies, in a way that will lead to your thing being locked out in due course Smart thinking!

Really great production of The Children @lyrichammersmith.bsky.social Fantastic ensemble cast, and a piece both wittily funny and poignant about age, parenting and our responsibilities. Definitely recommend.

Bringing back 'his men'? Sounds a bit like something the 1936 Public Order Act had in mind...

James Orr always reminds me of Alistair Petrie, who has had a great run of playing rather greasy baddies (and who I'm sure is a lovely man in real life!)

Sad news about Tim Curry There's a Clue-based joke to be had here, and which I get the sense he'd have enjoyed, but not convinced BlueSky would humour it...

And the grey made way for piercing blue again, but lighter, with a gentle breeze. Pen-Y-Fan horseshoe today. Nothing better for the soul than a proper walk in the hills. And even better with a good conversational companion.

After a punishing couple of months, back to classic late British summer skies. Grey washes hanging melancholic in the still air

The Paestum diver is breathtakingly beautiful. Simple and clean, it was painted on the inside of a tomb, so was not meant to be seen. The image of a young man is suspended in mid air, diving into the unknown - a poignant depiction of a transition. What happens when we jump into the void?

Cabinet Secretary rankings are less common than PM ones…. William Armstrong was found naked on the Downing Street waiting room floor raving about the end of the world. Simon Case must be grateful that he has someone else to prop up the bottom of the table.
