half of the zelda textures look like a hyper-detailed “photoreal” minecraft texture pack and the other half look like they’re not finished streaming in yet?

It’s a bug but like… hell yeah
A giant eye-shaped arrangement of glitchy pixellated rings in bright purple-blue over a dark grey background. A few scribbled lines of the same shade of blue are scattered around as well.

Incredibly satisfying!

I was only gonna suggest two small tweaks: - tightening up S_C a little might help C_O feel more balanced? - narrowing the left side of T so the negative spaces below are symmetrical (it’s looking extremely good as is, I’m just a type nerd, feel free to disregard either/both)

This looks super good! Are you looking for input, or just sharing?

Rutherford @craze.co.uk · 17/08/2026
I don’t think that makes them non-deterministic. The randomness with which they select from probable tokens isn’t truly random, it’s based on an input seed. Barring things like floating-point inaccuracies, the same seed + input combination will yield the same selections & therefore the same output.

Rutherford @craze.co.uk · 17/08/2026
The language models themselves are deterministic, but the random ‘seed’ isn’t exposed to users. If you run one locally and keep the starting parameters consistent, the output is repeatable.

"everyone in the middle ages believed in astrology and the stars having a direct impact on outcomes on earth" sounds like wacky superstitition to us today but i think would seem much more intuitive as a belief if you could see the sky like they got to see it.

uk politics rn:
“My neighbour told me voters keep ousting his prime ministers so I asked how many PMs he has and he said he just goes to the centre-right and gets a new PM afterwards so I said it sounds like he’s just feeding neoliberals to the electorate and then his economy started crying.”

For optical sizing, it might also be worth keeping the weight of ‘of the’ a little higher, and tracking everything out a bit looser? Overall spacing seems fine!

People love historical what if scenarios. What if JFK was never assassinated? What if the Nazis won in WW2? A scenario I never see discussed is what if the aids crisis didnt decimate the gay men of America in the 80s-90s? Its easy to forget 1 in 15 gay boomer men died. An estimated 300,000 deaths-

Daybreak (Part III) — Cartridge design & custom lettering for the 2026 My #Famicase Exhibition at METEOR, Tokyo (@super-meteor.bsky.social)
ockup of a cartridge for the 1980s Nintendo Famicom. The word ‘Daybreak’ appears in bright red on a black background, in a high-contrast and tightly-spaced blackletter style, surrounded by supporting text and elements in blue.

bluesky claude can’t find a profile, the server is having trouble bluesky is broken because of claude of course and it can’t load a feed, can’t even load a feed bluesky telling me that because of its vibecoded infrastructure it is having some issues and needs a few minutes bluesky telling me that it failed to load feeds because it’s broken and vibecoded

Thank you! I realise it might not be easy to fix, but at least I’d really appreciate some more info about the root cause. When customers ask about the issue (which they do, since Penpot implies it’s a problem with the fonts), I can’t help them

I think there are also good arguments not to (filesize being one), but it’s probably a good idea to set up some tooling for cases where it’s needed

Most text rendering middleware for games only supports `kern` table kerning, but most fonts only ship with GPOS kerning data, so text can be badly spaced even if the same font looks fine outside the game (This might be my single biggest criticism of Marathon, the screen says ‘EXFIL TRA TED’)

Oh absolutely, but I would argue that’s a question of selecting a well-designed typeface with the right characteristics, rather than massaging a geometric sans until it ticks enough boxes

dyslexia-friendly/‘hyperlegible’ fonts are a marketing gimmick, not a meaningful solution for accessibility

New release: MD UI. The International Typographic Style projected one step into the future. UI is a neo-grotesque tuned for maximum performance across all scales; a typeface that augments the function of a timeless form. Available today in 48 styles. mass-driver.com/typefaces/md...
A list of all 48 styles of MD UI: three optical sizes, eight weights in each, and matching italics. The typeface is a clean, slightly squarish geometric sans in the neo-grotesque style.

grill 3–4 good roma tomatoes & an onion, rough chopped; add to a pan with a tin of peaches in syrup (plus about ⅓ of the syrup), 1–2 finely diced fresh jalapeños, half of one of those tiny tins of chipotles in adobo. season, simmer until it all kinda melts together

update: the peach chipotle salsa (as it ended up being) has mellowed very well. I made myself a sandwich with most of what was left over & a very blue Montgomery cheddar. 11/10

I wonder if this is partly a problem of pure RNG vs ‘secret bias’ (things like coyote time, enemies’ first shots always missing). [classic-style] teleporting should feel random, but maybe accuracy could be slightly fudged if the player’s health is low, etc
