Ways we can fight back include putting frequent and attractive public transport options on the 2027 NSW election agenda, so we don’t need to drive to the Snowies, or local shops, or services. Photo screenshot of Smiggin Holes at Perisher, 12:20pm, 21/7/26 via www.perisher.com.au/reports-cams... 2/2

We all want to protect our winters and ensure our kids and grandkids can enjoy our precious alpine areas. But the fossil fuel industry and its allies in the car sector, media, and politics worlds have lied about their roles in creating and maintaining our hotter present and future. 1/2

There are plenty of food delivery apps competing for your business.⁣ ⁣ So why is delivery still so expensive?⁣ ⁣ The answer starts with a simple idea: competition only works when consumers can compare prices.⁣ ⁣ newsletter.platypuseconomics.com/p/…

I recently purchased a 20 year old car that is in excellent condition except the driver's power window is broken and the mechanism is an absolute pain in the arse to repair or replace.

A cargo bike allows you to change your mindset. Don't view the bike as a car replacement, view it as a tool that enables you to do things in a different way. /end of rant

I know I sound like I am ranting, but it the same feeling when drivers admire how much life is simpler with a cargo bike. Not having to stuff around with strollers made my life easier, not harder.

"What about all the crap I need to carry?" You say? You don't need that much stuff - my nappy change kit was the size of a large wallet, had 2 or three nappies, a ziplock bag stuffed full of baby wipes and some cream and a changing pad.

* Chest carriers are great until the baby is big and strong enough to to keep constantly kicking you in the nuts - then it's time for the backpack, or walking.

Crapulon @crapulon.bsky.social · 24/06/2026
The kid will be able to walk before you know it, and they like to walk. It also wears them out. For longer distances let them ride a balance bike. At one point I would go out with 1 kid in the chest carrier*, another in a backpack and the eldest on his balance bike.

I'm going to be one of "those guys on the internet". I raised 4 kids and never used a stroller. Cargo bike + baby carriers/wraps/slings/backpack did the job. I see strollers as an extension of car culture eg. you don't see them much in Asian cities

Crapulon @crapulon.bsky.social · 24/06/2026
My unsolicited advice: try to avoid using the stroller. The cargo bike + chest carrier combination works well, you can park your bike right outside your destination.

I cycled to Efteling, the largest theme park in the Netherlands, last week. Of course they have a huge bike parking area, fully staffed to check your bike in and out but only just seen that to encourage fewer car journeys if you cycle to the theme park 7 times in a year you get a free bike bag.
