Whumptober Day 6: KIDNAPPED⛓️ Arondir & Adar first meeting✨Interesting that for most of his life, Adar only could have a chat with another Elf by kidnapping/being kidnapped by them. P.S: Always loving Arondir's puzzlement on this scene, feels so genuinely disturbed #Whumptober #Arondir #Adar #TROP

Coloured illustration of Arondir and Adar facing each other in their first meeting in the Uruk trenches underground. Arondir is kneeling at the left, all tense and cautious, while Adar is sitting on a rock at the right, staring at him with a mix of tiredness, menace and curiosity. Between them there are wooden bars closing a tunnel in which a fiery warg is watching the scene with teeth bared.

Idk what happened, but I feel like there was five minutes in my 20s where we'd settled it and accepted, "women who desire men can safely have fantasies about things they wouldn't necessarily enjoy in real life," because WHY is this bullshit always sprouting like mould all over my timelines atm.

A POET HERO! i'm in love with this description of arondir 🥰

"Arondir is, as always, a poet hero,'
,." Cruz
Córdova said. "He carries his compass and his true north: dignity, discipline, and love. We are going to have much more of that." Will he survive the increasingly brutal war consuming Middle-earth? Cruz Córdova carefully avoided confirming or denying anything, but the answer as almost a spoiler: "My friend, I haven't swum this far to drown at the shore," he said.

The power of the Elven-rings was very great, and that which should govern them must be a thing of surpassing potency... ... so great was the Ring’s power of lust, that anyone who used it became mastered by it; it was beyond the strength of any will (even his own)... [The Fall of Númenor]

And speaking of chains... what a shot! I will fully admit I missed it the first couple of times I watched this episode. It's so subtle, but once you see, you can't unsee. #TROPRewatch

Elrond, Gil-galad, Galadriel, and Celebrimbor stand around an anvil in the forge. The shadow of a chain runs from Celebrimbor.

IIRC Elrond was the original king of Numenor. And then Tolkien used his name in The Hobbit, and dug himself into a plot continuity hole. So he just went “fuck it, Elrond has a twin now”. So who knows how much he even thought about it lol

The way they light and frame Miriel in #TROP (esp in season 1) as not just a leader, but almost saintly. Not just the shaft of light shining on her, but the halo of light over her head; and the gold disc behind her like the paintings of saints with the gold halo behind their heads. #MirielWeek

Rings of Power Season 1 Episode 3: Miriel stands at the throne, as Galadriel and Halbrand enter.

Season 2 Episode 8, Miriel stands before Pharazon in the numenorean throne hall, with her hands cuffed, as Belzagar reads a proclamation, likely charging her with some "crime".

Major #TROPspoilers Sauron mentally tormenting Celeborn & Galadriel…meanwhile he’s been tormented himself by the memory of Celebrimbor. Love that for him. I’m assuming the latter happens first, but it’s so thoroughly Sauron-coded to make a nasty move & never see the big IRONY sign emblazoned above

Have reached a Relevant (to fandom) point in the History of Middle Earth

Underlined passage from The Treason of Isengard reading, "In Ancient Days Sauron the Great contrived many things of wonder. For a time his purpose was not turned wholly to evil, or was concealed; and he went much among the Elves of Middle-earth and knew their secret counsels; and they learned many things of him, for his knowledge was very great. In those days the Rings of Power were made by elven-smiths, but Sauron was present at their making: his was the thought and theirs the skill; for these Rings (he said) would give the Elves of Middle-earth power and wisdom like that of the Elves of the West."
