1/2 cont. understanding/review of the literature, under the caveat that our assumptions are met. Causal path decisions are also influenced by the idea that we don’t invoke the Table 2 fallacy (Westreich & Greenland). Decisions are not made by p-value or numeric rules (e.g., 10% change?).

Hi @f2harrell.bsky.social I’m so sorry I missed this! To answer, albeit briefly, a confounder is a common cause of both the outcome and exposure, and does not lie on the causal pathway between the exposure & outcome. Causal paths are identified by expert knowledge and/or a sound 1/?
