After our 3-2 win, my wife called me a geriatric athlete. A front-footed insult? My response, of course, was that if I am, so is she. 🥰

If you believe in the power of community—of neighbors helping neighbors—please consider giving. Every dollar goes directly toward shelter, support services, and hope. It truly takes a village, and your support can change a family’s story.

I believe everyone deserves a safe place to call home. I’ve seen firsthand how quickly life can change, and how easily someone can go from stability to crisis. Let's show up for each other and support unhoused families.

Remote work doesn't thwart productivity. It boosts focus. Government workers are 12% more productive when randomly assigned to work from home. They're more efficient where it's quiet. Most people aren't shirking from home. They're escaping distractions and long commutes.

DOGE’s death blow to education studies
A virtual wrecking ball took aim last Monday at the relatively small, wonky corner of the Department of Education that I write about every week: evaluation studies and data collection. The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) posted on X that it had terminated 89 of these contracts worth $881 million. These particular cuts stunned people involved in education research because they didn’t go after “woke” studies about equity, diversity or “culturally relevant pedagogy” — all more obvious targets of the new administration. Instead, researchers described the canceled projects at the department’s Institute of Education Sciences as rigorous evaluations of how the federal government spends education dollars, efforts to improve the reading and math skills of U.S.

1 in 5 child care workers is an immigrant. Trump’s deportations and raids have many terrified
Nine days after President Donald Trump signed executive orders intended to crack down on illegal immigration, Damaris Alvarado-Rodriguez closed a classroom at one of her child care centers in Philadelphia. Despite having green cards, the teachers in that classroom, which serves 1-year-olds, were too nervous to come to work. Since Trump took office, his officials have targeted Philadelphia and other so-called sanctuary cities that limit their cooperation on immigration enforcement. Immigration agents have been a constant presence in the neighborhoods that house Alvarado-Rodriguez’s three centers.
